In northern Arizona, heavy snow and frequent thunder was reported around midday north of the town of Williams. Morning showers and thundershowers crossing southern Arizona produced wind gusts to 37 mph at Phoenix. Winter storm warnings and storm watches were posted for northeastern Colorado, and a winter storm watch was in effect through Wednesday for southern and central Wyoming. Winter launched a two-pronged attack on the nation Tuesday as one storm system spread ice and snow from the Mississippi Valley toward the Northeast, and another spread snow through the mountains of the West. Freezing drizzle developed during the night through the middle Mississippi Valley and the Ohio Valley.

Winter weather advisories were posted in southeastern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa, northern Indiana, and northern Ohio, the National Weather Service said. Strong easterly wind produced snow squalls in northeastern Minnesota, with more than 6 inches of snow possible in some places. NEW MEXICO OUTLOOK: Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy across the state today. There is a chance for snow and showers across the northern mountains. Highs will be in the 30s to 50s.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline of the family home; daughter, Kathleen Chapman of Placerville, CA; grand daughter, Carey Vanderkar and husband, Doug of Vallejo, CA; and sister-in-law, Irene Myers of Albuquerque. Mr. Lane served with the 192nd tank battalion of Maywood, IL and in the Philippines. Mr. Lane was a prisoner of war of the Japanese Army for three and a half years and was in the Bataan Death March.

Harold has been retired the last five years as a machinist. Private services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle, NE are in charge of arrangements. LOPEZ Adam Joseph Lopez, 11, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at borne in the arms of his loved ones and is now one of God's little Angels. Adam is the beloved son of Rudy and Dorothy Lopez.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Veronica, Christopher, Charles, Stephen, Jennifer, Sarah and Jocelyn Lopez; paternal grandfather, Lorenzo G. Lopez; maternal grandparents, Richard and Lita Ortiz; great-grandmother, FelecitasTorres-Trujillo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Adam is preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucy Lopez in 1992. Adam was a member of the Catholic church and a student at Chapparel Elementary School. A Prayer Service for Adam will be recited Wednesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at St.

Anne Catholic Church, 1400 A renal SW. Visitation will be after 6:30 p.m., at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, 10:00 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Reverend Father Ignacio Tafoya, Celebrant. Final Visitation will be at the church, from 9:30 a.m.

until 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his brothers, Christopher Lopez and Charles Lopez; and his cousins, Mario Ward and Marcos Ward. In lieu of flowers, send donations and contributions to St.

Carmen N. Martinez, 78, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday. Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Martinez; one son, Alvino Martinez; and one daughter, Cookie Martinez. She is survived by three sons, Michael Martinez and wife, Lilly, Ray "Mundy" Martinez, and Seferino "Chepe" Martinez and wife, Angie, all of Albuquerque; three daughters, Jennie Kreamer, Dolores Martinez and Barbara Lujan and husband, Steve, all of Albuquerque; one brother, Filiberto Nunez; eight sisters, Golla Lopez, Frances Nunez, Lupe Sturteman and husband Harry, Caroline Alderete, Josie Gonzales, Bertha Romero and husband, Ernie, Claudia Estrada and husband, Manuel and Delia Montes and husband, Basil, all of Albuquerque; 24 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martinez was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Services for Mrs. Carmen N. Martinez were conducted this morning from the Garcia Mortuary Chapel to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers were Michael Martinez Phillip Marquez David Martinez, Steve Lujan Vincent Kreamer and George Kreamer Jr. Interment was at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to thank all their family and friends for the gifts and expressions of sympathy extended to them during their time of bereavement. 18 DUNN John Scott Dunn, 33, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, died Saturday, January 22, 1994. He is survived by his sisters, Terry Dunn of Albuquerque, and Jean Dunn of New York, NY brother, Richard W. Dunn and wife, Marilyn of Anderson, IN; niece, Nanette Bradberry of Indianapolis, IN; nephew, Steven R. Dunn of Anderson, IN; and great-nieces, Whittney and Brittney Bradberry of Indianapolis, IN. Mr.

Dunn was preceded in death by his parents, William "Scotty" and Margaret Edith Dunn. Mr. Dunn was a member of the Air National Guard. He was a welding instructor at the Job Corps. There will be a Memorial Mass, Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel at Nativity Parish.

FREDERICK Gladys Miller Frederick, resident of Albuquerque for 46 years, died on January 25, 1994 in Alexandria, Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Kurt Frederick; her son, James Miller Frederick; her daughters, Ann Frederick Purcell and Elizabeth Frederick Derringer; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Davies Frederick; and her son-in-law, Carl Monroe Purcell. The favorit charitable institution of the Frederick family is Childlife of the U.N.M. Hospital. GIBSON Phillis Jean Gibson, 64, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 1994 at her home in Socorro, New Mexico.

She was born May 1, 1929 to Horace R. and Clara A. Henager Winsett in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; two sons, John R. Gibson and wife, Connie of Brandon, MI, and Pat J.

Gibson and wife, LeeAnn of Albuquerque; three daughters, Libby Siebolds of Socorro, Linda L. Courtney and husband, Lee of Branford, Ontario, Canada, and Laura E. Bejarano and husband, Ray of Virginia Beach, VA; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited Thursday, January 27, 6:00 p.m., at San Miguel Catholic Church. Mass will be held Friday, January 28, 10:00 a.m., at San Miguel, with Father Sotero A.

(Hal) Gunn, 86, died January 23, 1994 in a Honolulu, Hawaii hospital after a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 28, 2:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, 75O0 Paseo del Norte NE, where he will be entombed. Hal and his wife, Betty were residents of Albuquerque from 1948 until 1968, when they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii after selling their business, Gunn's Travel Trailers. New Mexico pioneer in the RV field, Hal and Betty held the Airstream trailers franchise for the state for many years. Prior to starting his own business, Hal was a upervisor at Sand it National Laboratories, after completing an assignment in Washington, D.C.

during World War II with the Office of Price Administration. He was born in Columbus, Montana November 20, 1907 and was in business in Billings when he met and married Betty Sherwin on April 7, 1941. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Timothy and his wife, Barbara and their son, Patrick; and a niece, Patricia Tejeda of Camarillo, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to favorite charities. After the Memorial Service, Hal's friends are welcome to visit with the family at the borne of Ted and Helen Sherwin, Betty's brother and sister-in-law, 4080 Dietz Farm Circle NW.

Stinebaugh, 44, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, January 21, 1994. He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Dorcis Stinebaugh; two daughters, Stephanie and Ashley; five brothers, Gerald Steve, James, Anthony and Gerald III; and one grandson. Valdez died on January 12, 1994 at the age of 47 in San Diego, CA. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by his father, Vidal Valdez; three brothers, Johnny Valdez, Tony Valdez and wife, Dolores, and Jose Louie Valdez; and one sister, Barbara V. Clark. Memorial Services for Mr.

Valdez will be held on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by the Salazar and Sons Mortuary, 400 3rd St. SW.

Navarre Dies Navarre made no secret of his homosexuality, a subject he explored in numerous works. In 1991, he wrote "Ce sont amis que vent emporte" (Friends Gone With the Wind), a love story that dwells on the daily pains of AIDS. But he denied being afflicted with the disease and once took an author to court for referring to him in a book on AIDS. His first novel "Lady Black" was published in 1971 after editors rejected 16 other manuscripts submitted since 1958. He was 53. Police alerted by a friend of the author found Navarre dead Monday from a pill overdose at his Paris apartment. Navarre, who returned to France recently after several years in Canada, won France's top literary prize, the Goncourt, in 1980. In 1992 he was honored by the prestigious French Academy for his more than two dozen novels, several plays and children's books. Miera was preceded in death by his wife, Libby Miera in 1987. Mr. Miera was active in New Mexico politics and ran as Republican Candidate for Congress in 1936 and Govenor in 1940. He served as chairmanexecutive director of the New Mexico Employment Security Commission. Mr.

Miera retired from the U.S. Department of Labor and served as chairman of the U.S. Civil Service Examiners for the Mexican Farm Laborer Program. Mr. Miera was also a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas D. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS PARIS Hundreds of fans, film stars and other mourners turned out Tuesday for the funeral of stage and screen actor Jean-Louis Barrault. Barrault, whose films included "Children of Paradise," in 1944, "The Longest Day in 1961 and "La Nuit de Varennes" in 1981, died Saturday at age 83. Culture Minister Jacques Toubon spoke briefly at the service at Saint-Pierre de Chaillot church in Paris, expressing the nation's sympathy to Barrault's wife, actress Madeline Renaud, 93.
