Monday in the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital in Clifton Forge, after an illness of two years. He had been in a serious condition for 11 weeks. Born Dec. 2, 1902, in Hinton, he vas the son of the late Peter B. and Clara Meadows Cales.

He was a retired barber and had been employed as a fireman for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Co. for 24 years. He was a member of the Hinton Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Murphy Cales, three sons.

E. C. of Hinton, George Oswald of Beckley and James Melvin of Tulsa, a half-brother, Robert Cales, of Geneva, four sisters, Mrs. Jean Hall and Mrs. Ruth Burdette of Big Creek and Mrs.

BYF'er Is Selected HINTON RNS Miss Janie Farley, 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Farley of Bellepoint, has been named BYF'er of the Month by members of the Baptist Youth Fellowship of the Central Baptist Church. Miss Farley will be a junior at Hinton High School this fall and is a member of me Chippawa 4-H Club. SEVEN 'Brotherly Love' Program Theme ALDERSON (RNS) "Brotherly Love," was the theme of the program given at the Thursday evening meeting of the Woman's Department of Old Greenbrier Baptist Church.

The program, based on a study of mission fields, treated of American Baptist in Hawaii. It was presented as a symposium presenting four Baptist Women of Hawaii representing types of women in the churches there. Mrs. H. A.

Massingill, Mrs. W. E. Wharton, Mrs. Earl Kessenger, and Mrs.

John Wagster represented the four women, members of churches in Honolulu, Kailua, Pearl Harbor, and Ewa Beach. For the devotional, Mrs. Elmer Harris read Scriptures and a prayer written by Robert Louis Stevenson. Mrs. Harry L.

Louis, for two weeks and then will go on to Camp Mini- wanca, for two additional weeks. This is a Christian Youth Fellowship Camp for students from the United States and other countries. The program at Camp Mini- wanca is planned to bring together outstanding young women from leading universities for a four- week program of study, research, leadership training and fellowship. The purpose is to give young women on the brink of graduation an insight into the business world and help them to adjust themselves to their jobs after graduation. Miss Van Metre left Lewisburg by bus Saturday to St.
