W. FRIDAY MORNING, APRIL 20, 1962 Fayette County Fayetteville Legion Post Has Largest Membership FAYETTEVILLE (RNS) Walter Caldwell, adjutant of LaFayette Post No. 149, The American Legion in Fayetteville, announced that the post has the largest current membership in the history of the post, when post members met Monday night. The mecting was held the Legion Home with Commander Roy D. Cruikshank, presiding.

Adjutant Caldwell reported a total of 423 members have paid dues for 1962, to top all previous 16 years in the post. He stated the Fayetteville post has a larg. membership than many posts (in larger towns in West Virginia. He also announced that special membership awards have been ordered for all "membership gogetters" in the post. A report was given by William R.

Hesse that all been completed for the seventeh District Convention to be held in Fayletteville April 29. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., to be followed by lunch at noon. Business sessions will be held in the Faylette County Memorial Auditorium starting at 1 p.m. Commander Cruikshank urged all members of the post to attend the convention and observe the workings of the Legion on the district level. Lunch will be prepared by members of the Auxiliary Unit.

John L. Witt chairman of the Veterans Administration Hospital committee, reminded the group of the scheduled visit to the VA Hospital in Beckley on April 130. All members were urged to meet at the Legion Home at 6 p.m. "to" order to pool transportation Beckley. A special program will be presented for the patients and refreshments will be served.

Charles B. Selvey, Americanism officer, reported on the "Bells! Across the Nation' project. The adjutant announced that Jimmy Jones and Charles L. Garvin III had been selected as Fayletteville High School representatives to attend Boys' Jackson's Mill. An announcement will be made at a later date on the representatives from Collins Mrs.

Varney Dies; Funeral Saturday services for Mrs. Allie LILLYDALE (RNS) Funeral, Varney, 24, of Lillydale will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in The Church of God with the Rev. J. L.

He also reminded the group of the Roy Acuff show scheduled for Thursday, to be held in the Memorial Building. Proceeds will go to the Tunney Fund.

A report was given by Wood on a meeting held recently relative to formation of a special class for exceptional children in this area. It was announced that a group of representatives from local organizations plan to meet with the Fayette County Board of Education in efforts to get special teacher for the approximately 16 children.
