ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL Sunday, July 16.JL978 E-S' Firm Builds 450 Buses a Year employs more than 300 workers. Two Greyhound Americruisers, complete with lavatory, roll off the assembly line each day. The 450 coaches manufactured in Roswell replace old coaches cn Greyhound's fleet. TMC President E.T. Cummings said the 750 buses will be manufactured each year when full production is reached.

A new facility, apart from TMC, will soon begin operations at the air center. This Greyhound subsidiary will manufacture a 30-foot Citycruiser for transit systems throughout the nation. Cummings said TMC was attracted to Roswell because a suitable building was available." "Not to be overlooked was the positive attitude of Roswell's city government and the cooperation of other business leaders," Cummings said. A relative newcomer to the air center is the Christmas by Krebs Corp. a Christmas tree ornament firm which employs about 40.

Krebs President Eberhard Krebs said the firm manufactures a variety of ornaments numbering in the millions for national and international markets. TMC, with more than 300 employees, ranks among the largest employers in the area. Glover, a meat packing plant, employs about 530, and more than 400 work at the Levi Strauss and Co. plant. Romex, another Greyhound subsidiary operating out of the air center, manufactures parts for TMC and employs about 25 people.

Other firms employ as many as 100 employees while some have a single employee. All these firms, large or small, add up to one thing employment and dollars poured into the local economy. By TOMAS 0. (TMC), located in the Roswell Industrial Air Center, builds about 450 buses a year for its parent company, Greyhound Lines, Inc.

On May 30, 1974, Greyhound Lines, announced plans to create a bus manufacturing plant in Roswell. The TMC facility now occupies the largest building at the Roswell Industrial Air Center aJOO.OOO square foot converted B-S2 hangar. TMCisoneof several firms who responded to Roswell's efforts to attract industry before and after Walker Air Force base was closed in mid 1967. Production of the 13-ton Greyhound coaches began in early 1975 on the 54-acre site at the center. Mrs. Hillman said persons planning to enter this year's fair may obtain information on various classes, entry forms and premium lists from her office. Persons writing for material are urged to print or type name, address, city, state and zip code, and be sure and mention which department they are interested in entering.
