Should he try to help them in the first place? If so, how can he do so? The answers to such questions may be forthcoming from two workshops in industrial arts this summer on two college campuses in Appalachia: West Virginia Tech in Montgomery and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. The workshops are part of a program called "School to Work," an effort to bridge the gap between school and work, which in turn, is part of the larger Appalachia Educational Laboratory Inc.

under Dr. Benjamin Carmichael in Charleston. The workshop at Tech under Billy Frye and his assistant, Art Pierce, assistant professors of industrial arts at the college, will have 31 participants from secondary schools in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Vir ginia and Kentucky. The six-week course starting June 19 has as its purpose the teaching of industrial arts teachers some elements of guidance relating to job opportunities. It is the premise of program "School to Work" that the shop teacher with his particular training and work is in a unique position to help his students learn about jobs, wages and availabili ty of jobs in certain areas.

Speakers visiting the Tech campus this summer to confer with workshop members will be education and director of guidance at West Virginia State College; Dr. Hubert Near, director of teacher education at West Virginia Tech; Dr. Robert Buxton, director of the other workshop at East Tennessee State; Dr. Howard Decker, executive secretary of the American Industrial Arts Association; Charlie Collins, chairman of the industrial arts department at Tech and representative of the industrial arts association in the Appalachian region, and Philip Suiter, educational psychologist from Marshall University. Other speakers, as yet unnamed, will include a representative of the office of State Employment Security, an industrial psychologist, a sociologist, a job analyst, in-training directors and a personnel director.

In addition to activities on campus, the. 31 will take industrial trips to Union Carbide Metals Division at Alloy, FMC Ordnance in South Charleston, Clay Camper Trailer Company at Clay, Forest Products Co. at Gassaway, Raleigh County Vo- Officers Elected By Fayette OES MOUNT HOPE (RNS) Members of the Winolia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, in Mount Hope, met Tuesday evening at the Masonic Hall.
