Ex-Mercer Man Dies In Hospital PRINCETON (RNS) Damon Right, 48, of Muncie, formerly of Princeton, died Wednesday in a Muncie hospital after a long illness. Born at Lerona, Oct. 17, 1918, he was a son of the late Julius C. and Ettie Wylie.Hight. He had lived in Muncie for 11 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bess Sweeney Hight; five sisters, Mrs. W. J. Williams of Takoma, Mrs.

H. G. Martin of Crew, Mrs. Vinnie Kite and Mrs. Eugene McKenzie, both of Bluefield and Mrs.

Basil Beckett of Princeton, and five brothers, J. and Mrs. Harold Gullett of Cora, a girl, five pounds, Edward Johnson Taken By Death PRINCETON (RNS) Edward William Johnson, 90, of 306 McNutt Ave. died Wednesday at his home after a long illness. Born Aug. 1, 1876, in Alexandria, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Chauncey Johnson.

He was a retired employe of the Maidenform Company at Princeton and was a member of the Methodist Church and Princeton Old Guard. Johnson had lived in Princeton for 50 years. His wife, Minnie W. Johnson, died in 1963. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.

R. J. Dobbins of Princeton; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p. m.

Friday in the George Seaver Chapel with Rev. J. Moore in charge. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The body will remain at the funeral home and friends may call after 2 p.

K. (Ada Baber) Sparks, 82, of Persinger died Tuesday in a Richwood hospital after a long illness. She was a former Nicholas lounty school teacher, a graduate of the old Summersville Normal School, a former cooperator of the Sparks Store Co. and post office at Persinger and a member of the Bennett Memorial Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Elaine, of Lonpoc, three daughters, Mrs.

Camilla Morton and Mrs. Agnes Herbert, both of Summersville, and Mrs. Lucille Sharper of Baltimore, two -brothers, J. Lewis Baber of Hillsboro and Ralston G. Baber of 'Miami, two sisters, Mrs.

Cora McClung of Moose Haven, and Mrs. Ella Baber of South Charleston; six grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. today in the Howard White Funeral Home at Summersville with Rev.

Verlin Butcher and Rev. Charles Pugh in charge. Burial will be in the Sparks Family Cemetery at Per- siager. NINE Mellie Edwards Taken By Death ALDERSON (RNS) Mellie P. Edwards, 75, of Alderson died in a Beckley hospital at 2 a.m.

Wednesday after a long illness. Born at Rudkins, June 7, 1892, he was a son of the late Simuel and Florence Jarvis Edwards. He was a retired em- ploye of the Greenbrier Valley Hotel, an ordained Baptist minister and a veteran of LOGAN (R'NS) An Omar man, James Major, made political history in Logan County Monday by being the first Negro ever to hold a position as deputy sheriff. Major was one of four new appointments submitted to the County Court for approval. Sheriff William J.

Youths Arrested MAN (RNS) Two Triadelphia District youths were arrested over the weekend and booked at the Logan County jail on charges of car larceny and breaking and entering. Survivors include his son, Ralph Wood of West Jefferson, a sister, Mrs. Aulsie Coldiron of Glen Daniel; one brother, Walter of Nottingham, Pa. and two grandchildren. The body is at the Badger Funeral Home in Jefferson, N. C.

Funeral services will be held Friday in Jefferson and burial will be in the Lansing Cemetery at Lansing, N. C. Survivors include his wife, M. Edwards, at home; one foster son, Leroy Edwards of Washington, D. two stepsons, Forest and Glenn Flannagan, both of Craigsville; two stepdaughters, Mrs.

Nute Plummer of Fort Clinton, Ohio and Mrs. Charles Cecil of Cradhay, one brother, James of Lewisburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Foster of White Sulphur Springs and Mrs. Elsie Anderson of Sutton. Services will be held at 11 a.m.

Saturday in the Great Emanuel Holiness Church at Alderson with Elder Alfreda Goforth, Rev. Nathaniel Johnson and Rev. Lewis Hatfield in charge. Burial will be in the Trail's End Cemetery at Clintonville. Military rites will be performed at graveside.

The body is at the Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson and will be taken to the home today and to the church one hour prior to services. Youth Is Injured LOGAN (RNS) A 16-year- old Mount Gay youth, Kenneth Plumley, was treated and released Sunday night at Guyan Valley Hospital for injuries received when his bicycle was by an automobile. Plumley was struck at about 10 p.m. by a car driven by Miss Shirley Baisden of Verdunville. The accident occurred near Thompsontown. Attendants at the hospital said the boy received cuts and bruises to the left thigh.
