WEDNESDAY MORNING, MAY 10,1972 Program Participants At Matheny Church Event Program participants on the England, guest speaker; Mrs. Friday program for the Roy Stone, honored as organizer and first president of the Willing Worker Band; Mrs. Darlene Stewart" and Matheny Church of God Mothers' Banquet (seated, from left) Mrs. Boyd Mothers' Banquet Held Services Planned By Group In Wyoming MATHENY (RNS) The Willing Workers Band of the Matheny Church of God held a Mothers' Banquet Friday evening at the Roberts Mote Restaurant in Oceana.

A color scheme of pink anc white was carried out in the decorations. The tables were covered with white linen an accented with pink candles in pink holders. Centerpieces were pink asters and favors anc place cards carried out the col or scheme. Each mother was Man In Nicholas Dies; Rites Slated MOUNT.NEBO (RNS) Wil liam Edward Baxter, 74, Mount Nebo died Monday in a Demar hospital after a long illness. He was a member of the Mount Gilly Baptist Church a Pool, a retired miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; three sons, Thomas of Atlanta, Robert of Midwest City, and Richard of Mount Nebo; two daughters Mrs. Freda Horton of Valley and Mrs. Grace Walkup of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Ellison of Whitesville; a half sister, Mrs. Bertha Workman of Richwood; 18 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Gilly Baptist Church at Pool with Rev. Woodrow Beaver in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Howard White Funeral Home in Summersville after 4 p.m.

Darlene Stewart and the Matheny trio sang "What Heaven Means to Me" and "Build My Mansion Next Door to Jesus." Members of the trio are Mrs. Velma Roberts, Mrs. Ella Jane Stepp and Mrs. Darlene Stewart. An orchid corsage was presented to Mrs.

Roy Stone by Mrs. Butler on behalf of the group. Mrs. Stone organized the WWB and served as the first president. In closing each guest was recognized and she responded with her testimony of what being a mother meant to her.

A prize was awarded Mrs. Darlene Stewart. Members and guests attending were Mrs. Russell Butler, Mrs. Virginia Mae Bailey, Mrs.

Charles R. Ganoe Dies In Hospita PETERSTOWN (RNS) -Charles R. Ganoe, 79, of Peters town died at 10 a.m. Tuesday in a Beckley hospital after long illness. Bom in Summers County June 16, 1893, he was a son of the late Preston and Amand Carson Ganoe.

Ganoe was a lifelong residen of the Peterstown area, Worlc War I Army veteran, a retiree carpenter and was a membe: of the Peterstown Baptis Church. Survivors include threi brothers, G. W. and Houston of Rich Creek, and Clyde Ganoe of Hinton, and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Steel Peterstown and Mrs.

Janie Fer guson of Rich Creek, Va. The funeral will be at 2 p.m Thursday in Broyles Funera Home Chapel at Peterstown sith Rev. Kelly Bane in charge 3urial be in Peterstown Cemetery.
