Less than a dozen tracts people make application for marriage licenses and then fail to secure Ihe license? Each year there are a few applications made for marriage licenses in Grcenbvier County that remain on file for weeks aiict no licenses are issued. At this time there are two such applications. Information on the applicalions have been widely published by newspapers and after several weeks the licenses have not been issued.

One application which has not been executed to this date is of a Quimvood couple. They filed application on July 13, 1953. This couple went to the trouble of securing permission from the girl's parents, County Clerk Paul Hogsctt said that he had no information why the licenses were not issued and indicated that ho might soon remove the forms from the records. Fiddlers Contest Attracts Crowd RONCEVERTE An Old-Fashioned Fiddlers" contest was held in the Ronceverte Armory Friday i with a large number of contestants in the several events of the evening entertainment before a large crowd of Greenbrier Valley People. "Old Fiddler's conlesls" were once very popular in the Greenbrier Valley and reached a climax each year at the old Greenbrier County Fair. Recently they have been revived in Greenbrier and Monroe county after discontinuance several years. They are proving very popular and drawing a (large crowd to participate in the events or lo watch others. The Friday evening contest was given under the sponsorship of the local I.

O. O. F. lodge. Building New Road WHITE SULPHUR Of interest to West Virginia residents is the relocation of Route GO between Covington and Clifton Forge.

For several months the Virginia Road Commission has been busy on a segment of the road between Covington and Low Moor. Recently a contract has been let for relocation of the segment for Low Moor into Clifton Forge, one of the crookcdest sections of road in nearby Virginia, This improvement will cost nearly a million dollni'j and will provide a new four-lane road Irom -Covington to Clifton Forge. The segment contracted is for about 3.5 miles and will be located north of the railroad to replace the road now on the south side of the railroad. Mrs. Hippert III WHITE SULPHUR Mrs.
