Larew Funeral Set For Today Private services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. for J. Edgar Larew, 80, of 204 Beokley who died of a cerebral hemorrhage at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at his home. A retired professional engineer, he began working in this section before his marriage to Willow Christie.

At this time he was associated with the engineerng department of the Virginian Railway, with part of his assignment in the Cirtsville-Pax area. He was later employed as an engineer for the Amigo mine and also for mines in the Meadow Bridge area before branching out into greater projects which included the Beckley-Mount Hope Airport and Sunset Memorial Park, the latter which he named. Funeral services will be in the Keyser-Bryant Chapel with the Rev. J. W.

James Perkins Invalid Remains Cheerful, Happy BY PANSYE WHITTAKER RHODEUL GRNS)--Four years as an invalid had not changed the cheerful and happy disposition of James A. "Si" Perkins of Rhodell. In March, 1556, he suffered a stroke which resulted in the complete paralysis of his entire left side. He is forced to spend most of his time in bed. Smith, deputy director in charge of the Beckley office which serves veterans in Fayette and Raleigh counties, also disclosed that $27,914.42, had been obtained for burial allowance, insurance benefits, retroactive pay, and monthly pension and compensation for veterans and their survivors. In releasing the monthly report, Smith listed the following services rendered by his office: Personal interviews, in the office and at itinerant points, 490; telephone calls, 405; out-going correspondence, 322; and total forms completed, 226.

Besides maintaining an office staff throughout the week at his area headquarters in Beckley, deputy director Smith makes regular itinerant trios throughout his area to aid, assist and counsel veterans, their dependents and survivors. Points covered by itinerary service include Gauley Bridge, Oak Hill, Fayetteville, and Ansted. prizes will be awarded. In addition to the first, second, and third place prizes, a "floating" trophy will be awarded the' winner. This trophy will foe relinquished each yeao: to the new winner.

Bill Turner of Re-ckley was released from the Raleigh County Jail on Monday after executing a $1,000 bond before Magistrate Cotton White. Turner was jailed on the charge of shoplifting. Stiril Terry of Warren, Ohio, was also released at 9:30 a. m.

Monday from the jail. He was charged with trespassing. Three federal prisoners were removed from the jail at 11:45 a. m. and taken to the Kanawha City Jail in Charleston by Deputy U.

S. Marshal Morris Imboden. The men were: Charlie Weaver of Caretta, charged with parole violation; Willie Rose of Roderfield, charged with possession of a moonshine still; and Arthur Ray Asbury of Cumberland, charged with violation the Dyer Act. Roy Napper of Ferrell Street in Beckley was released from the jail Monday without paying a fine, because his wife withdrew the warrant charging him with assault and battery. S'he withdrew the warrant after paying the costs.

Napper was jailed at 2:05 p. m. Sunday on a warrant obtained frocn Magistrate W. A. Burke.

Car Demolished Mishap Here An accident at the intersection of Valley Drive and Prince Street at 1:45 p.m. Monday resulted in total loss of one car and minor damage to a truck, according to city police. Arthur C. Lilly, 65, of 115 Ball driver of the car was traveling south on Valley Drive when he struck tihe parked truck. The truck is owned by Kelly Crawford Transfer in Tazewell, Va.

No charges have been placed against Lilly. Damage Suit Filed A damage suit on behalf of Carol Sue Campbell was filed Monday in the Raleigh County Circuit Clerk's office. The suit is for $366.44. The defendants were named as Mason D. Lilly of Crab Orchard and Calvin Leslie Hayzlett of Pool in Nicholas County.

BUTT IT FROM TBK OVITANS Drive-In Looted Beckley State Police are still investigating the breaking and entering which occurred at the Princewick Drive-In sometime Sunday night. The police received a report at 11:35 a.m. Monday to the effect that the drive-in had been broken into.

While there was no complete report on what was stolen, some vending machines were said to be heavily damaged. Apparently the damage had come as the thieves extracted money from the machines. The report was telephoned by an unidentified machine company representative. He told police the owner of the business was not there when he arrived, and the place was not open for business. as his friends born in May 5, 1388.

From that time until 3056, he was able to do small! chores around his home, and toj hunt and fish; but he could return to the mines. In March, 1056, he went to Beckley Memorial Hospital for; a physical check and observation. He had been there one week: when he suffered the stroke that: paralyzed his left side.

Mrs. Perkins, who is' almost constantly at his side, was Levonia Young when he married: her on Jan, 20. IS24. She em-! ploys every possible means to; keep hkn comfortable and hficpy.i Each day he spends about twcj hours, or until he becomes tired, in his wheel chair. His right side seems strong and healthy, and he can raise himself up in the bed by pulling on a trapeze which is over his bed for that purpose.
