Competition holds prices down. Bnd concentration is thought to lessen that competition and not be best for the consumer wel- fare. Amendment HR 11 to strength-. en the anti-trust laws was passed In lower Congress last week with 393 votes for amendment, only 3 votes against it.

Many feel that repeal of trade laws would result in only those businesses with extensive capital being able to survive. We would gamble on lower prices for, a time, at the risk of having fewer businesses, less employment, less taxes, with more people on wel- fare and less money to support them: A few cents less on items for a time mieht not mean much to a man who lost his job over 1 it and didn have an income to buy any items. It might be wise for all citizens to study the trade issue and tell your representatives in New Mexico if you feel you will bene-, fit more with lower prices for a time, or benefit more with the trade laws, more businesses and turn-over dollars that make the difference in prosperity and a depression. KLEIN. LITTER AT AIRPORT ALBUQUERQUE Why does not the City of Albuquerque utilize the services of prisoners in cleaning up the litter inside and outside- the wall at the Mu- nicipal Airport? This is a sad situation brought upon the community by people who care little or nothinc.

aD- parently, about unsightliness. i What with the coming "En-, chantorama" and the celebration of Albuquerque's 250th an- niversary just over the horizon, this huge mass of sand, beer cans, bottles, papers and good-, riess only knows what else, should definitely be cleared up. 'The Vigilance Committee should establish headquarters in this area and fine culprits who throw things about, after it has been cleaned up. This wallerea ought to, be patrolled daily, and this would establish a job for some deserving person. It could be paid for by the City, or in combination with the City-Fred Trn rntir a i jTiaivey-i wa ana guiei amines, as continual "dumping" along this wall will soon make the place look like the city dump i n.
