12, 1966 SATURDAY, DEC. 24, 9 TO 6 MULLENS The Lorena Spillers Garden Club held its Christmas meeting Monday evening at the Rose Floral Shop with Mro B. Noble and Mrs. B. Wickline serving as hostesses.

Mrs. Eugene Newsome presided with Mrs. Herbert Morgan leading the invocation. Eighteen members and two guests answered roll by naming favorite Christmas greenery or flower. The president thanked all members for their work in the Gifts Of Christmas," Cower show and displayed the Peoples Bank of Mullens silver cup won by the club for having the most entries in the horticulture division.

Mrs. Buren Toler called attention to a. display showing all the ribbons and awards won by Lorena Spillers Garden Club members and their sponsored Cardinal Junior Club members at the flower show. Mrs. A.

T. Robertson said the garden therapy committee had placed favors on patients' trays at the Wyoming General Hospital for Thanksgiving. Mrs. Thrasher, program chairman, distributed a pamphlet on the "Care of Holiday Plants and Greenery," then introduced Mrs. Sonnie Phillips, who presented a program on "Christmas Arrangements for the Home." Mrs.

Phillips was assisted by Mrs. Clifton Pauley and displayed several arrange ments they had made, telling how each could be used in the home and the proper accessories to be used with each. After the program, club mem bcrs were invited to inspect the concerning the procedure for malting them Following the meeting, Mrs. Kenneth Watkins, Mrs. Stella Delhi, and Mrs.

W. W. Wells, served as judges for Christmas arrangements designed and made by members, which will be taken to the Wyoming General Hospital during the holidays Winning ribbons were: First place, blue, Mrs Carrie Thrasher; second place, red, Mrs. R. D.

Phillips. Bloodmobilc Visit Set LEWISBURG (HNS) The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be Lewisburg Dec. 19 at the Fellowship Hall of the Old Stone Church, beginning at noon until 6 p. m. Many new donors and all pre vious donors are urged to help make the 200-pint quota.

Byrd has announced that final work is being completed on the $330,000 addition to the building at Mount Hope, which houses the offices of the Health and Safety Division of the U.

S. Bureau of Mines. The second story addition to the building was made possible when Byrd, who is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, amended the Fiscal Year 1965 Appropria- i Bill to restore funds stricken by the House to de. sign the structure. The vertical addition to the existing building will provide another 10,400 square feet of office space. OCEANA (RNS) A committee was appointed to set the date and make plans for the annual football banquet at the Monday night meeting of the Oceana Rotary Club. Named to the committee were Les Lively, Aubrey Chancy Rev. Gordon Joines. Tom Smith announced that anyone having suggestions for improving county health service to give them to him, Leon Childress, Otis Cook or Drewcy Mitchell. A report was made by Ronald L.

Cook, who serves as chairman oC the Oceana Library Advisory Committee, concerning the recent opening ol the Oceana Public Library. He anounccd the schedule for the library as being 4 until p.m. each week day except Wednesday) and 1 until 4 p.m. Salur- day. He also discussed a proposed magazine drive and asked anyone so wishing to contribute a magazine subscription to the library.

The group discussed a federal appropriation for the renovation of the old Oceana High School building and voted to see if the project could be speeded up. It was announced the Dec. 26 meeting would be held at the high school gymasium.
