(AP) -Kentucky Coach Fran Curci shrugged off the boos of the fans Saturday after his Wildcats outgained 20th ranked Maryland by 107 yards and still settled for a 10-10 tie in the final eight seconds. "They can boo if they want to. I know my game plan and I'm going to stick to it," Curci said. The fans obviously felt that Kentucky was running on the inside far too often as most of the Wildcat gains were for short yardage. The Wildcats tried only five passes and a very few pit-chouts from their veer offense.

Curci, however, said that slant plays off tackle "really is an outside veer that we used for the entire first touchdown drive. "I thought the outside game went real well," the Kentucky coach said. Although Curci had said earlier that both of his quarterbacks, Derrick Ramsey and Cliff Hite, would see plenty of action, Hite wasn't on the field until the final 25 seconds. "I thought Ramsey could take the battering better and I knew it would be a hard-hitting game," Curci said. Hite declined to comment on the turn of events.

Curci said he felt Kentucky should have gone inside even more than the Wildcats did. "The one Michigan fumble to EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -Michigan State turned four North Carolina State fumbles into touchdowns, three in the first seven minutes of the game, and was never threatened Saturday as the Spartans cruised to a 37-15 in-terconference football victory. As usual with fumbles, the defensive team thought it forced them and the offensive team thought they made the mistakes themselves. "We were very physical," said a satisfied Michigan State Coach Denny Stolz, "We were very good as contact goes.

We were very strong up front. Hell, they fumbled the first three times they got the ball." but North Carolina State coach Lou Holtz said the fumbles distorted what otherwise might have been a closer ball game. "With five-and a half minutes to IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -Junior quarterback John Andress threw a 70-yard touchdown pass and set up another score with a 75-yard pass play Saturday to lead 12th-ranked Penn State to a 30-10 intersection al college football victory over winless Iowa. time we pitched out, they hit Sonny (Collins) for a six-yard loss." Collins set a new Southeastern Conference career rushing record, but it was almost for naught until John Pierce kicked a 45-yard field, goal for the tie with eight seconds' left. Collins gained 161 yards on 3f carries to set his career mark at 3,099, erasing the record established in 1949 by Eddie Price of Tulane.

Maryland had all its scoring in the first period when senior tailback Rick Jennings, on his first play since an injury three weeks ago, scampered 93 yards with a kickoff to put the Terps in a 7-7 tie with Kentucky. The Wildcats had scored on an 80-yard drive with Collins carrying the final yard. Mike Sochko sent Maryland in front late in the first period with a 30-yard field goal. That score stood until the final seconds. Maryfond 10 0 O10 Kentucky 7 0 0 310 Ken Collins 1 run (Pierce kick) Mar Jennings 93 kickoff return (Sochko kick) Mar FG Sochko 30 Ken FG Pierce 45 est.

The Irish, meanwhile, rolled up 455 yards total offense.

Iowa lost the ball almost immediately when McLaughlin fumbled and Penn State's Tom Odell recovered on the Iowa 27. Fullback Larry Suhey carried three times, the final one for a touchdown, and Penn State had secured the victory.

The Hawkeye's sputtering offense again failed to launch sustained scoring drives before 52,780 fans in Kinnick Stadium. Iowa, 0-3, scored midway in the first period when junior Nick Quartaro hit a 50-yard field goal, breaking his previous record of 47 yards last season and tying the stadium record. Smarting from their 17-9 loss to After trailing 3-0 at the end of the first period, Coach Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions took a 14-3 halftime lead, then used Andress' passing to score twice more in the fourth quarter to seal their third victory against one defeat.
