I have a lovely home here and I intend to live here, I am not going to bring to you and the city any discredit." He said this in answer to Gunn's question about the use of the property. City Attorney Paul Strong had prepared two ordinances in anticipation as to the council's pleasure on the rezoning request.

I don't have to come up to City Hall every day. It's not required, but I spend my time here doing things for the city because I enjoy it. "I hope to spend the rest of my time in politics. If it weren't for that I don't know what I'd do. I don't like to fish or hunt, Politics is my thing." Although the mayor was a charter member of Deer Park's Optimist and Rotary clubs, he says he is not in any civic organization now.

"A politician or public official doesn't have any business in civic clubs because it gets too political. I don't think it is fair to either side. Organizations express themselves more freely 11 a politician is not there. The mayor and council should represent all of the people and not have their minds made up by a few people or any one group," he says. The mayor says he likes to talk to all of the people.

This is one of the reasons he is looking forward to the imminent campaign, "I enjoy the campaign as much or more, I like to talk to the people to hear their views and a lot of times I get lot of ideas talking to the people about issues, In any con- setting up of a new zoning district, District No. 12, The Mobile Home District, which included some rather strict regulations for use of the property for this purpose such as uses, building height, lot area that may be used for the main building and any accessory buildings, square footage of the home, side, front and rear yard requirements and -street parking requirements for each home.
