I use full-strength bleach in my enamel pans and let it stand for from five to 15 minutes or until the stains go away. If the sides are stained, just swish the solution around until the stains are moistened, or drop a piece of paper towel in it and then swab the sides.

Wash with soapy water and rinse. If ynu scribble hard on the i the ka leather sole of a shoe or per this normally will mn ballpoint pen write. MRS, H. C. F.

DEAR POLLY The ink in some ballpoint pens tends to dry, especially if they are not used frequently. The ink also tends to thicken in weather. Stick mnst ol the pen under a water faucet for a few minutes with very warm water running over it, then dry with a rag or towel. This usually solves tha problem and gels the ink to flow freely again when writing. MRS.

D. 1. DEAR POLLY Dn tell Lil who cannot remove the stains from her white enamel pan that I wet surh a pan, sprinkle the stained area (enough to cover the entire stain) with a household cleanser. Let it stand for a few minutes, then scour the pan. The stains will be removed.

If very deep, a second scouring may be necessary but this will even work on deep tea stains. PATT1 DEAR POLLY Nothing Is as good as a list posted over the kitchen sink to make myself do tiresome jobs. It dares me to do something about that missing button, those letters that should have been answered two months ago, that dental appointment that is overdue and the closet that needs cleaning. If 1 am ambitious, 1 choose the chore 1 hale most and that will take hours to do, like cleaning a closet. If 1 am lazy, 1 sew on that button.

In either case, there is one less job facing me. Of course, new ones keep being added as I think of then). It is niy shopping list of boring tasks but it is a challenge.
