At 5:30 p.m., KRQE is the only affiliate to air a local newscast. According to the recent Nielsen ratings book, KRQE measured a 14 metro share and a 15 DMA. It is a stronger showing than KOB, which airs "NBC Nightly News" and measured a 13 metro and an 11 share. Both stations, however, were far behind KOAT, which received a 40 metro share and a 36 DMA share with "ABC World News." KOAT also holds a comfortable lead at 5 p.m., when its local newscast is up against KOB's "A Current Affair" and KRQE's "CBS Evening News." KOAT measured a 37 metro share and a 32 DMA share; KOB received a 9 metro and an 11 DMA; KRQE chalked up a 22 metro and a 20 DMA. At 10 p.m., the only time when all three stations air locally produced newscasts simultaneously, KOAT was the clear choice among viewers, with a 44 metro share and a 41 DMA share.

KOB was a distant second with a 24 metro and a 21 DMA. KRQE followed with a 14 metro and a 15 DMA. KOAT-TV, Channel 7, whose 6 p.m. newscast dipped dramatically in the November Nielsen ratings book, has bounced back and then some, according to the just-released ratings for February. The numbers would seem to indicate that the November ratings book was likely a deviation and not the start of a downward trend.

KOATs newscast fell to a 33 metro share in November, down from the 46 share it had in November 91; its Designated Market Area share fell to a 25, down from the 38 it measured the previous November. The February '93 ratings book shows KOATs 6 p.m. newscast with a 39 metro share and a 35 DMA share. By comparison, the February '92 Nielsen book has KOAT with a 46 metro and a 35 DMA. Although the 6 p.m.

newscast has recovered much of that market share since last November, it is not quite as strong as it was a year ago February. A share represents the percentage of television sets that are tuned to a particular station at a particular time. The metro market, roughly Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, is measured separately from the Designated Market Area, or DMA, which is essentially the entire state. KRQE-TV, Channel 13, which airs "Jeopardy" at 6 p.m., tallied a 22 metro share and a 20 DMA share has moved the Government Access Television station from channel 30 to channel 14. The switch was made as part of the restructuring of the Jones Intercable system and a realignment of many of its channels.

The Government Access station provides live broadcasts of City Council and Bernalill6 County Commission meetings, as well as other government-related programming. The station's studios are located on the first floor of the City Hall building in downtown Albuquerque. "The Fire Next Time," a four-hour CBS mini-series partly filmed in New Mexico last summer, will air on KRQE-TV, Channel 13 on April 18 and 20, from 8-10 p.m. both nights. The award recognizes excellence in locally produced programming. KRQE was nominated in the special event category for the "News 101 Nambe Awards Show," an Emmy-like presentation to student participants of the "TV 101" project. This year's "Nambe Awards Show" will air on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Fox 14 is no more. KGSW-TV signed off the air Monday at 6 p.m., when it took over the Channel 2 position and changed its call letters to KASA. NBC's maybes include: Valerie Bertinelii (a divorcee in Paris), John Larroquette (a recovering alcoholic who manages the night shift at a bus station), Teri Garr (IRS agent), Kelsey Grammer (back as Frasier Crane), Gene Wilder (widower dentist), Henry Winkler (talk-show host) and Roy Scheider, Stephanie Beafiam and Shelley Hack in Steven Siaelberg's The networks this week laid out their movies, series and specials they're developing for possible airing next season, and, as you can imagine, they're studded with stars. Some possible CBS luminaries: Harry Anderson (playing Dave Barry), Faye Dunaway (as a Boston publisher, with Robert Urich as co-star), Harvey Fierstein (whose best friend, played by Julie Halston, moves in with him), David Keith (as a trailer-park dweller), John Amos (living in the house in Queens Archie Bunker used to dwell in), Beau Bridges and Lloyd Bridges (on a dude ranch), Glenn Frey (private-wye), Kate Jackson (sheriff) and, as aging gumshoes, Dennis 1513 GirardNE 11012 Montgomery NE 293-6304.
