Indiana. Claudine In Jail For Mother's Day DKNVKR AP) Singer Claudine Longet has lost a bid to be released early from jail so she could spend Mother's Day on Sunday with her three children. The Colorado Supreme Court on Friday turned down a request by Miss Longet's attorney that she either he released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond or have her 30-day sentenced reduced by 10 days. The 35-year-old entertainer began serving 30 days In the Pitkin County Jail in Aspen after being convicted of criminally negligent homicide in the shooting death of her lover, professional skier Vladimir Sabich. Today will be the 20th day the French-born singer has been in jail.

"I don't know what we're going to do now." said Miss Long-el's attorney. Ron Austin. "I don't believe it was a correct decision." Five of Colorado's seven Supreme Court justices acted on the motions Friday, which came about four hours after a tower court had turned down the request. Austin had sought to have Miss Longet freed early on the ha sis of a state law allowing a sheriff to grant a prisoner time off for good behavior. Rut the justices agreed with District Attorney Frank Tucker, who said the state law allowing good time dues not apply because the 30-day jail term was imposed as a condition of probation rather than as a sentence.

Dry conditions are most severe in Idaho and in eastern Oregon, according to Tom George ol the Soil and Conservation Service. George said that there was no snowpack in the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon. "We arc looking at the most severe shortage ever experienced in this region." said Dave Hock wood of the U.S. Armv Corps of Knginecrs. BP A spokesman Clifford H.

Watkins said the worsening water supply situation means an increased likelihood that a plan for mandatory cutbacks in elec-tricity use will be implemented. Watkins said the new forecast means there is a 15 to 20 per cent chance that the region's reservoirs wilJ run dry by April of nest year. Meanwhile, the Army Corps of Kngineers announced that it would begin releasing 2 million acre feel of water from Columbia Kiver reservoirs on Monday so that young salmon and steel-head can reach the Pacific Ocean.
