fflie Daily Qalesburg, III ffhufsday, May 27 1954 S3 DEATHS AND FUNERALS MARK WEIR ALPHA Word was received here Tuesday of the death of Mark Weir, 77, of Denver, and a native of Woodhull. Death followed an extended Illness. Mr. Weir was born at Woodhull April 27, 1877, and he resided In the Rio community until his marriage to Miss Jennie Parsons of Denver. Surviving are the wife; a son, Ivan; a daughter, Mrs.

Dorothy Brown; two sisters, Mrs. Georgia Potter of Denver and Mrs. Lois Wilson of Alpha, and a brother, Ben Weir of Wataga. A brother, Maurice Weir of Alpha, preceded him in death two months ago. Funeral services and burial took place today in Denver.

MRS. ARTHUR CLIFFORD Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur Clifford, 56, of 63 Sumner who died Monday, were conducted today at 2 p. m. in First Methodist Church.

Dr. Jual Ford, pastor, officiated. Songs were by Mrs. Paul Clausen, with Mrs. Harry Neave as organ ist.

Burial Was. in Oaklown Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Richard Berry, Richard St. George, Raymond Steele, Arlan Long, Leroy Cruys and Sam Robertson. MRS.

DOLLY HAINES GALVA Mrs. Dolly Haines, mother of Galva Postmaster John L. Haines, died at 5:15 o'clock this morning in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Johnson and Gill Chapel in Galva.

Friends may call Friday night. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery. Mrs. Haines (nee Henderson) was born at Galva Oct. 28, 1876.

She was married to E. M. Haines in 1893. He died Nov. 20, 1936.

Be sides her son, she is survived by a grandson. Mrs. Haines was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother and an infant grandchild. ARNOLD STAUFFER FARMINGTON Funeral services for Arnold Stauffer, retired farmer of this area, who died in the home of his son, the Rev. Eugene Stauffer, in Lincoln Tuesday night, will be conducted at the Methodist Church in P'arm Ington Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, DST.

Mr. Stauffer was born in Switzer land April 28, 1877, and is survived by the son and one daughter, Mrs. Irving of Seattle, Wash He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Lincoln and was a former member of the high school board of education at the time the Farmington Community High School was built. DAVID ARTHUR HALL LONDON Arthur Hall, 82, of London Mills, a retired farmer, died at 9:20 o'clock Wednesday night at the Saunders Hospital, Avon, where he had been a patient eight days. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Klinck Chapel, Knoxville.

The Rev. Adrian McKay of the KnoX' ville First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday night at the funeral home. Hall was born at London Mills Dec.

23, 1871. He was married to Mary Ethel Switzer Jan. 18, 1901. With the exception of 14 years in South Dakota, Hall had lived in the London Mills area all his life. Surviving are his wife; a nephew, Norman Hall, who lives in the David Hall residence; and two brothers, Roy of London Mills and Bert of Larned, Kan.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. MISS NORA COX Miss Nora Cox, 79, of 120 Aliens died Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at that address. Miss Cox was born in Union County, Iowa, April 19, 1875, and in 1906 she came to Galesburg, where she operated a tailoring school several years. Surviving are a nephew, James D.

Black of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and a niece, Mrs. Virginia Griffin of Rushville, Mo. Funeral services will be conduct -i ed Friday at 10 a.m. in the Hindi- liff and Wilson Funeral Chapel, where friends may call this evening. WILLIS E.

DAY Willis E. Day, 61, of 404 W. Market Abingdon, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary's Hospital this morning after he was stricken while working at the Kanartex Coating 750 Main St. The city ambulance was summoned at 7:24 a.m.

He had been employed by the local firm as a miilman for several years. The bedy was taken to the Huggins Funeral Home in Abingdon. Surviving are the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Underwood of Avon and Mrs. Miriam Anderson of Viola; a son, Harold of Ab ingdon, and several brothers and sisters in southern Illinois.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Abingdon Methodist Church. The Rev. A. H.

Dagley will officiate and will be assisted by the Rev Robert E. Evans. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. HARRY TAYLOR Taylor, 68, formerly of Roseville, died Wednesday at 9:25 a.m. while at work at the Manteno State Hospital at Manteno.

Mr. Taylor was born at Warrentown, 111., April 5, 1886, and his marriage to Miss Nellie Holeman took place in Roseville, Dec. 25, 1906. He resided here until 1939, when he entered the hospital employ at Manteno. Surviving are the wife; a son, Everett of Roseville; a daughter, Mrs.

Plane Burlington, Iowa, and mother of Mrs. H. M. CourSon, 1687 E. Main died Wednesday morning at St.

Francis Hospital in Burlington. Funeral arrangements are pending at Phugh's Chapel, Burlington. Mrs. Gruenjes is survived by seven children, three brothers, three sisters, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. MRS.

BRETA FREEMAN Breta C. Free man of Moline, mother of Forrest W. Freeman of Galesburg, died at 10:20 a.m. today in Rock Island following a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m.

in the Eslerdahl Chapel by the Rev. Charles Mollis, pastor of Moline Gospel Temple, of which Mrs Freeman had been a member for the last few years. She was born July 28, 1870, in Mississippi. She was married in Cambridge to Charles F. Freeman, who died in 1941.

Surviving are the son, a brother and a sister, Oscar C. Olson of Green Rock and Mrs. Anna Vincent. The Free mans moved to Moline in 1917. Burial will be in Riverside Ceme tery, Moline.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel Friday between 7 and 9 p.m. Planes Off on Round Trip to Central America FORT WORTH, Tex. Wl Four intercontinental B36 i planes, three of them bound for strife-torn Central America, took off from Carswell Air Force Base today. The fourth plane was sent along to take over in case trouble developed with one of the three planes scheduled to make the round-trip to Central America. The Air Force said that if no trouble was apparent by the time the planes reached vicinity of the Yucatan Peninsula that the "spare" would turn back to Cars well.

The round trip to Nicaragua and return was expected to take 17 hours and 20 minutes. One of the plane commanders is Maj. L. W. Brockwell, Flanagan, 111.

Air Force Says No Decision for Academy Site WASHINGTON (UP)-The Air Force says no decision fias yet been reached on a site for its new air academy. The five man site selection board met again Wednesday to discuss technical data on various proposed sites, a spokesman said. He said there was "no indication of how soon the board expects to reach a decision."
