22 State Fair hers Five anc Board both the finance and publicity departments for the board. The job of running the annual exposition for this board is handled by MacGillivray, who this year is completing his tenth season in the driver's seat as manager. MacGillivray, 54, is a native New Mexican who has personally guided the fair through its most successful years, and expects to see the 1972 show break every existing As such, he's a natural to head up the racing aspects of the fair, which he dees. Fort y-three-year-old Juven Sanchez, an Albuquerque insurance executive, is one of the key men responsible for the new Spanish Village at the State Fair. Named to the fair board is Deming banker and civic leader Claude E.

Leyendecker, named in October 1971 to fill the vacancy created by the death of Grants publisher Jim Barber. Leyendecker, 49, heads Dan A. Burguete IT A i -4 i on member (he was named in 1971), Woofter, 66, previously served two different terms on the State Racing Commission. Karl Butt Let the People WITH aj, vl DBF' Five ranchers and two businessmen make up the n-member commission that directs the general operation of the New Mexico State Fair. All longtime residents of New Mexico and representing all geographical areas of the state they were appointed to their posts by Gov.

Bruce King. They set the policies and formulate the long-range plans that make the fair operational under the immediate supervis ion of the manager, Finlay MacGillivray. The basic rural background of these people makes them ideal to run the show, which is basically rural with urban overtones. THE MAN WIIO heads the board is Karl K. Butt, a 57-year-old rancher and farmer from Clayton.

Butt, named to the board last year by Gov. King, is now serving his second term on the fair commission. He was a member from 1963 to 1967, during which time he was instrumental in initiating the famed and prestigious Register of Merit Hereford Show staged at the New Mexico fair. She was the first named to the commission in 1963, and now serves as vice chairman. Active in the rodeo ring for many years, she personally directs that part of the fair. She also helps supervise the annual queen competition at DAN A. BURGUETE, 52, a sheepman and rancher from East Vaughn and a former state representative, was first named to the board in 1967. He served as chairman from 1967 to 1971, and presently directs the agricultural sections of the fair.

The general livestock and horse shows at the fair are under the direction of a a rancher Leo L. Smith, 40, who has been on the board since 1967. General manager of the sprawling Chama Land and Cattle Co. in Rio Arriba County, he is secretary-treasurer of the board. PAUL WOOFTER of Socorro completes the quintet of ranchers supervising the State Fair.
