23, 1991. Wake up this morning with a sense of deja vu, did you? It's not your imagination. KUCU-FM (107.1), soon to be KNUA, began playing "Stairway to Heaven" at midnight Wednesday and will continue until midnight tonight. The station is bidding farewell to classic country music and reintroducing New Age to the local market. The new, New Age station will then officially ring in Christmas by segueing to "Silent Night," by Mannheim Steamroller.

"Murphy Brown" and "Love and War," both Diane English-created sitcoms, ranked fifth and eighth. ABC's "Coach," NBC's "Cheers" and "Northern Exposure" on CBS grabbed the sixth, seventh and ninth spots. Tied for tenth place were "Full House" on ABC and NBC's "Wings." Holiday-themed specials were squeezed out of the top ranks.

A CBS salute to the old Ed Sullivan variety show, "Holiday Greetings from Ed Sullivan," finished strongest at No. 16, tied with Fox's "The In the network news contest, ABC was first with a 10.7 average rating, followed by CBS with 9.9 and NBC with 9.3.
