Boosters Club Offers Prizes for Verses and Music Typifying Spirit ot the Southland. The 700.000 Boosters Club of Southern California has announced a prize song contest open to all, and will give $500 to the person penning the best poem typifying the spirit and glories of Southern California. For the music, which will be attuned to the verse, the club offers $2000. The contest will close November 1. for the verse, and the prize selection of the Judges will be sent all over the world to the most famous musicians for a score that will be attractive.

The club devised a separate contest for music and poem to give authors who are not composers a chance to compete, but 'composers and authors may collaborate. It is required that the poem have a chorus affording wide possibilities and the words of the poem and chorus must be adaptable to a musical setting. It is required that authors sending in poems must place a distinguishing mark upon them and in another envelope seal, the name and address of the author. Thus the poem will be selected purely -upon Its merits and when the prize poem is chosen the envelopes containing names will be opened for the name of the author. The manuscripts must be sent to headquarters of the Boosters' Club at No.
