Bibby, who left after giving up a leadoff double to Bill North in the eighth inning, improved his record to 5-0, matching Tekulve's mark, tops in the National League. They scored their final run in the eighth off reliever Gary Lavelle on a double by Tim Foli and a single by Dave Parker. "We'll have a lot of days we score 10 runs, but when we don't, we've still got to try to find a way to win," said Foli.

Foli, who had three of Pittsburgh's eight hits, singled in the first after catcher Milt May dropped his pop foul. North then dropped Parker's fly ball to right-center, allowing Foli to advance to third base, and Bill Robinson drove in the run with a sacrifice fly.
