jzu Wednesday, March 31, Holy Gazette Engraving half-century in the ministerial DAILY LENTEN MEDITATION HOLY WEEK THE ENTOMBMENT Saturday. March 27 "I am He that Lveth. and was dead; and behold. I am alive iorevermore." Read Matthew 27-57-61. The Apostles Creed in order to combat the heresy that the human life of Christ was an illusion, a mere Diay-acting goes out of its way to labor the point that Jesus "was crucified, dead and buried." There is a stem finalirr pno-it the- ft-ftrric buried." We do well not to play with V.

UMiU AUU I tnose austere words or try to pretend that they are an illusion. Christianity at its best never shrks the realism of "death's dateless night. Meanwhile, the older we grow and the greater the number of our friends who have died the less terrible and the more friendly death becomes. 1 Alone he goes, and none can go for who goes unto the land which no one knows." Yes but we are not the first to go. "The trumpets have sounded on the other side" for countless predecessors.

The terror of loneliness is taken away by voices which repeat the initial Cnristian assurance. "I go to prepare a place for you." Prayer: Almighty God. who art the God cf the living and not of the dead, again we commend to Thy keeping all those whom we have loved and lost Rest eternal give them, God, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Help us who are still in our pilgrimage so to live that in Thy good time we may with them be received into that deathless company which no man can number- through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
