Sandy, nor her lawyer, Val Vojdik, had information about her condition. Faulkner, 20, and four other cadets were sent to the infirmary Monday. Two of the four were released Tuesday; the others will be examined today.

Leedom originally said that six of the 591 cadets were hospitalized, but later lowered that number to four. Faulkner also will miss taking the routine physical fitness test today with her fellow first-year "knobs," so known for their short haircuts. $80 $215 Tote Garment bag 747 Flight bag 748 Suiter flight bag SALE 159.99 179.99 209.99 259.99 249.99-3' $240 $270 $340 27 Suiter pullman Wheeled garment bag $350 Shop by phone 24 hours a day. The protesters, some in gray wool Confederate uniforms, were a small part of a crowd of about 600 who gathered on Monument Avenue.

Ashe was a Richmond native who, as a child, was not allowed to use the city's whites-only tennis courts. He went on to become the first black to win Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. He died in 1993 of AIDS. "Some say that he doesn't deserve to be here," said formor Gov.

L. Douglas Wilder, the nation's first elected black governor. "Some say he deserves better." The protesters were a reminder of months of debate in the former Confederate capital over where to place the statue. They said they did not object to the statue but believed it should be put elsewhere. The statue is to be dedicated next spring or early next summer.

From Associated Press CHARLESTON, S.C.-Shannon Faulkner spent 2V4 years fighting to become the first woman cadet at The Citadel. Then she spent most of her first two days sick in the infirmary. Faulkner remained in a private infirmary room Tuesday, recovering from the effects of drilling in stifling 100-degree heat. She succumbed Monday after her first lunch as a cadet. She missed taking the cadet oath and missed "Hell Night," when new cadets are rousted out of bed and into a courtyard.

There they stand in silence in the dark for 15 minutes with their new classmates. Faulkner missed welcoming remarks Tuesday by Citadel President Claudius Watts. He did not mention her as he spoke to rows of cadets sitting ramrod straight in gray uniforms. "If you are willing to pay the price, if you are willing to invest your time, you will succeed," Watts said. School spokesman Terry Lee-dom wouldn't provide details on Faulkner's condition, citing her right to privacy, but said she was expected to be released today after being examined by a doctor.

Neither Faulkner's mother, Suiter flight bag 3 I Youth Held in Slaying of Parents, Brother, 5 McCLEARY, Brian Bassett and a 17-year-old friend have been charged with three counts of first-degree murder after Bassett's parents were shot to death and his 5-year-old brother was drowned in a bathtub.
