-Rev. Samuel A. Weikert, a graduate cfPenraylvania College ol the class of'74, and formerly of this connty, has been appointed Rector of Christ chnrch, Ponghkeeo- sio, N. Y. bond of Postmaster Elliott, has been received, signed and returned to the Post Office department.

On motion of Dr. Hollinger, Mr. Himes was endorsed as a member of the State committee from this district, to receive the support cf the connty delegates. BATTLEFIELD W. H.

Bobbins, of Statesvillo, N. who ooml manded tbe 4th Alabama Regiment, of Law's Brigade, and occupied tbe right in the 34 day's battle, has been appointed to the position formerly filled by Gen. Forney deceased, of Alabama. He is an ex-member of Congress. Tbe Commission in their work of surveying the field have named the road from the Emmitsbnig to theTaney- town road, "Wbeatfield Avenue" and tbe avenue leading from Devil's Den westward "Stony Ridge." Wednesday afternoon, as Miss Mary Frommeyer, daughter of F.

N. Frommeyer, of Straban township, was driving to town, her horse frightened at an umbrella with which some children were playing and ran away, upsetting tbe buggy, and throwing the lady out. damp. The division encampment of the National Guard will be held at Gettysbnrg, commencing August 3 and continning eight days. This was decided on Wednesday by Adjn- tant General Greenland after a visit to the famous battlefield in company with Colonel of tbe Sixth regiment, acting commander of the First brigade; Gen. J. P.

S. Gobin, of Lebanon, Major Foster Belllefonte, Capt. Bricker, Harrisbnrg, Lt! W. F. Richardson, Philadelphia, aud others connected with the State Guard.

The division beadqnarteis will be located where they were when tbe encampment was held here ten years ago. One ot the brigades will pitch its tents in the rear of Cemetery Ridge, which was occupied by a portion of Lee army during the battle; the other in theneighboihood of the Emmitsbnrg road and the third in tbe woods occupied by Pickett's drnsion before the famous charge on the third day of tbe fight. The brigade officers will select their positions later. The Third being the oldest bas the first choice, then comes the Second. Water for tbe use ol the troops will be carried to the camp through pipes.

The railroads centering in the town will increase their facilities so that transportation of tbe troops shall not be delayed. The people of Oettyshnig have promised to assist the division officers in making the affair a General Greenland estimates the cost of the encampment at $175,000. The division encampments which have been held at Mt Gretna cost ahoot $20,000 a day, includinii the pay of tbe troops and transportation He says the cost of transportation for the next encampment will exceed that of the former division encimpaients by at least E. Thursday last whilst S-ott Rex was working in a planing mill in Biglerville, his left band was caught in the machinery and injured badly.
