PAGE TWO BEDFORD GAZETTE, BEDFORD, PA. THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 1948 OBITUARY Paul Grubb Paul Grubb died at his home on South Juliana Bedford, at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday evening, Aug. 10. He had been in ailing health since April and had been bedfast for two He was born Nov. 9.

1917, in Bedfoid, a son of Nathan and Ada (Wakefoose) Grubb. He was, married to the former Ruth Howser. He is survived by his mother, his wife and a daughter Charlene. Also surviving are three half-sis- teis, Esther Collins and Jennie Diehl, of Clearville, and Rhoda De- shor.g of Everett. Mr.

Grubb was a music instructor in Atlanta, prior to returning to Bedford in April. He. was a graduate of Bedford High school in the class of 1939 and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Friday morning at the church, the Rev.

F. A. Magee officiating. Friends may call at the Geisel funeral home in Bedford. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Swartzwelder are eight children: Mrs. Samuel R. Bennett, Cumberland, Mrs. Charles Gardner, Baltimore. Mrs.

Floyd V. Swartzwelder, and Donald II. Swartzwelder, Chaneysville. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. Membership was held in the Reformed Church.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 2:00 p. m. in the Chaneysville Methodist Church, the Revs. B.

F. Hartmnn and W. W. Twigg officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of the Balentine Funeral Service.

Lewis R. Helsel Charles W. Shultzabarger Charles W. Shultzabarger of Altoona, owner of one of the first movie houses in Everett, died Monday morning at Mercy hospital, wh'ere he had been admitted Saturday morning. A piano tuner by trade, he is survived by his wife and one son.

James, wife of Attorney H. C. James, former president judge of Bedford county, died at her home'in "Bedford, Monday, Aug. 9, of an acute heart attack. She was born in Choice May 24, 1887, a daughter of Nicholas M.

and Emma C. DiehL She was married to the Hon. H. C. James.

Dec. 8, 191L She is survived by her. husband, and a son, John H. James; stationed in Stockholm, Sweden. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs.

Harry. L. Stern and Mis. Lucinda M. Souser.

John Vincent Brogan John Vincent Brogan, husband of the former Helen McLaughlin, of Bedford, died suddenly at his home in Bellevue Wednesday evening, July 21, while sitting at the dinner, table with his family. He had worked, that day HI" the office of the Federal Census Bureau where he had been employed for some time.

Mr. Brogan was well known in Bedford and had many friends here. He is survived by his wife, a daughter Miriam and a son, John Jr. Lewis R. Helsel of McConnellstown, a former Hollidaysburg j'oii- dcnt, died Friday morning at Mercy hospital, Altoona.

He was'born Oct. 15, 1888, at a son of Robert and Louetta (Claar) Helsel. He had been employed for 45 years by the Pennsylvania Railroad company. Surviving are three daughters; Mrs. Marietta, Miller of Hollidaysburg, Mrs.

Efma Brantner of Wil- and Mrs. Helen L. Schmid of Altoona; one spn, Portsmouth; two sisters. Mrs. Charles Burket of Claysb'urg and Mrs.

Chester Isenberg of TVlc- Connellstown and five brothers, Edward of Waterside, Auston of McConnellstown, Charles of Hollidaysburg, Elmer of Altoona and William of McConnellstown. Three brothers preceded him in death Mr. Helsel was a member of the Church of the Brethren of Hollidaysburg and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Enginemen. George Hunt George Hunt, who left Bedford county as a youth to live in Akron, Ohio, died there Wednesday morning at one o'clock of a heart attack.
