I PATTERSON drove his car up the driveway attempting to locate the creatures with the car's headlights.

When the larger creature suddenly appeared in the lights and headed towards the car, the witnesses say they ran into the house. '1 As they sat around the dining room table, less than 10 feet from large window, the creature suddenly appeared on the other side of the glass. "Our dusk-to-dawn light is right overhead there and you could see it plain as day," said Mrs. Cayton. Witnesses said they could not distinguish arms or facial features because of the thick hair.

They described the creature as having 'short, stubby legs and weighing more than 300 pounds. Patterson was holding a pistol as he sat at the table, witnesses said. rWhen the creature appeared in the Mrs. Cayton reached for rifle. "It didn't even when I got the rifle," Mrs.

Cayton said. "It just stood there for about 10 minutes. If it "had been a person he would have run when he saw the rifle pointed lat him," she added. ANOTHER of Mrs. Cayton's 'daughters said she saw the crea-ture on Tuesday evening.

The daughter, Mary Ackerman, 30, of iMinerva, said she drove to the frailer court next door to her par-tents' home to pick up her daughter Sand a playmate. As she turned into Jhep parent's driveway she saw the Jcreature standing on top of the hill pat about 9 p.m., she said. The creature did not make any appearances Wednesday night. Lewis Napier, chief deputy for Stark County Sheriff's Department, said deputies were stationed near the area overnight in case a sighting was reported. The department "periodically" receives reports from people in the area about strange noises or sightings, he said.

But many times the culprit turns out to be only a stray cat or dog, he added. The department investigated the Monday night sighting and found no tracks, he said. "You would think something that large would knock over branches of trees or leave a few tracks," he said. Napier said the sheriff's department is answering all calls about sightings. As the Cayton family and friends discussed the strange occurrences Wednesday, Mrs.

Cayton's daughter pointed out what resembled a tunnel in the underbrush where it appeared a person or animal had slid down the bank to the bottom of the strip pit. "Nobody goes down there because there are snakes," Mrs. Keck said. Other strange things have happened in the past three weeks, they said. The family's German shepherd was found dead of a broken neck -lying just a few feet from its empty collar and chain.

The family did not report the incident, they said, because they assumed the dog accidentally choked to death. "It's really wierd," Mrs. Acker-man said. "Sometimes you know it's out there, but you don't know where. You can smell it but you can't see it." City Presently Attending Present VALUABLE COUPON This coupon good through Oct.

resources Munroe Falls officials, who were miffed when the Akron Metropolitan Park District board purchased Renner's Park this summer, asked the board Tuesday if the village can tap other resources of the park. Village officials said they might need water, land and other natural resources in the park. The park board bought the swimming resort from private owners at the same time Munroe Falls was attempting to acquire it. "These resources were things we felt we lost a foothold on when we lost out on ownership of the park," said Councilman Ronald Budzowski after a special meeting Tuesday with the board. The meeting was called to discuss the board's policies concerning operation of the park, which lies within the village.

THE BOARD told village officials that policy of the district has been that park lands be used just for park purposes, said board chairman John Tormey. The board said it could not turn over use of part of the park land along S. River Road, as village officials requested, for expansion of the city garage system, now across the road from the park. But the board said village officials' questions about the park have triggered a parkwide survey of natural resources in all metropolitan parks, including Rentier. After determining water, gas, sand and gravel and other resources, the board said it would examine its powers with regard to allowing adjoining communities to use the resources, Tormey said.

The board also agreed to consider requests for cooperation with the village concerning the need for a second access road off S. River. 13 UU V1 COZY SWEATER VEST. Orig. $9.
