Wednesday, August 14, 1974 Weather Opponent as "most INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) Secretary of State Larry Conrad was labeled by his Republican opponent here today as the "most vulnerable" to defeat on the Democratic Statehouse ticket. William Allen Ill, the GOP secretary of state nominee, said that the Republicans also are Ford to name new VA head WASHINGTON (UPI) President Ford apparently will nominate Indiana's Richard Roudebush to head the Veterans Administration, according to reports circulating around Washington. a former congressman from Noblesville, currently is a high official in the VA and reportedly was former President Nixon's choice for the job, but Nixon resigned before the formal nomination was made. President Ford will address the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Chicago and it was possible he might wait until then to make a formal announcement. Roudebush is a past national commander of the VFW.

Roudebush, a five-term congressman, gave up his House seat to run as the unsuccessful Republican nominee in 1970 against Sen. Vance Hartke, D- Ind. Indianapolis woman hurt in crash A 28-vear-old Indianapolis woman, Barbara Hutchson, was injured early today when she apparently lost control of her car on Smith Valley road and struck a utility pole. A White River volunteer fireman said the 10 a.m. crash occurred on Smith Valley road about one mile west of Morgantown road. The utility pole was broken, the fireman added.

Mr. Linehan was born in Muncie to Robert and Rose Linehan, and was a 34-year employe of the Glass Container Co. of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Southport Presbyterian Church and a veteran of the Army during World War II. Elmer M. Linehan, 65, 320 Parkway, New Whiteland, died Tuesday at the VA hospital in Indianapolis. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the J.C. Wilson Chapel in Greenwood.
