JOHN P. CUPPETT, Manager. SIGHT SEEING IN CAUFORNIA Bedford Coiaitians Visit Iioug Beach, Catalina Island and Los Angeles. Pomona, November 26, 1912, Tuesday morning, November 19, J. B.

Snowberger, A. T. Replogle, N. S. Kagarise, and their wives and Mrs.

Hattie Kagarise, all of New Enterprise, and M. P. Brumbaugh and wife, of California, went to Los Angeles, where we made our temporary home during the week while we took in several sightseeing, trips. The first day (Tuesday) we went to Long Beach, where we spent a very enjoyable day and evening. A little more than two years ago we had the pleasure of bathing in the Atlantic Ocean, while this day we enjoyed a similar experience in the Pacific Ocean, and as this was November 19, we found the water a little cooler than it was at Atlantic City during the middle of August, yet we enjoyed it very much.

At Long Beach they have one large ocean pier with a few places of amusement on the back end of it, while all their other entertainments are located along the beach, such as 'the Airship Spiralway, the Scenic Railway, and the Hippodrome, etc. During the evening we went to the Auditorium where we heard the Long Beach Municipal Band render some very excellent music with-E. H. Willey as their director. After staying all nighj at this place we boarded a trolley car and went to San Pedro Harbor, where we were joined by our son, L.

R. Kagarise, and after taking in some of the sights at this place we went on board the ship Hermosa for a trip to Catalina Island which lies 27 miles off the coast of Southern California. This island is 22 miles long and from eight miles to half a mile wide. It has 55,000 acres of parks and mountains and is the private property of the Santa Catalina Island Company, converted by them into a vast pleasure ground. As we left San Pedro Harbor we had very smooth sailing until we got past the break-water, when we found the ocean to be very rough.

It so happened we selected a very stormy day and our trip was not very enjoyable. Although this ship has a registered weight of 483 tons exclusive of its burden, the storm seemed to toss it about very easily. "When we arrived in the harbor at Catalina Island a man and boy were in a small boat. They would sail up beside the ship and tell the passengers on 'board to throw coins down into the water, and when some would throw a coin into the water, the man would spring out of the boat, dive down and bring it out. After landing at Catalina and getting our dinner, some of our party took a trip in a glass bottom boat to see the Submarine Gardens, which no visitor to the island should miss.

Floating over the green and blue waters in the glass-bottomed boat one sees shell encrusted rocks, fishes, red, green and gold, zig-zagging among the waving Joliage with branches bearing clusters of fruit resembling olives. There was with this boat one of their expert divers who would dive down to the bottom of the ocean and bring up shells and give them to persons on the boat. He would go down If You Value Your Eyesight You will equip your reading table with a Authorities agree that a good kerosene--oil lamp is the best for The Rayo is the best oil lamp made, the result of years of scientific study. Arriving at Los Angeles in, the evening, we began to look around for a lodging place for the night and having secured a place we were all sitting in the parlor, and while in conversation with two of the ladies of the house they found out where we were from. The slightest symptom of kidney trouble is far too serious to be overlooked. It's the small, neglected troubles that so often lead to serious kidney ailments. Why risk your life by negleXng these symptoms? Reach the cause of the trouble while there yet is time--begin treating your kidneys at once with a tried and proven kidney remedy. This city has more trolley lines running out from it than any city in the Union. Lines are running out in every direction almost like the spokes of a wagon wheel.

Although this is a densely populated city, any one wishing to make his home here need not fear he cannot get a house to move into, as they are rapidly building houses for sale or rent. I have been told recently that if all the houses built in this city in one time were built on one street it would make a street half a mile long. There is a company here called the Los Angeles Investment Company that buys large tracts of land surrounding the city, then lay it out in lots on which they build houses which are for" sale or rent. They have at this time 115 dwellings under construction i 82 'are on their You E. are hereby notified that Benjamin H.
