The sorority also contributes to Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Gateway Learning Center and Johnson County Special Services. Offered here is only a sampling of the delicious-sounding recipes in the book. The four listed are the courtesy of the committee members. Here is Mrs. Conrow's recipe for her prize-winning yeast rolls.

He is John Van Nuys, the historian and a member of the freshman class at Wabash. Miss Easier selected Christine C. Easier, Greenwood, a freshman in the I.U. School of Nursing at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, was among 32 students selected for initiation into national honorary societies in ceremonies April 22. The daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Morris Easier, 663 Ridge Road, Christine was initiated into Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma. She and others were selected on the basis of superior academic achievement and had to earn a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. was not included in the printing company's list of categories. Consequently, the enterprising Mrs.

Conrow located a suitable picture of a microwave and designed her own cover page for that chapter. Recipes from Mrs. Otis Bo wen, wife of the Indiana governor, and Fran Ray, sorority province officer, are featured in the opening I P. section of the book. Letters to those women requesting their contributions were sent early in the cookbook-planning stages.

Robert Stone, art teacher at Whiteland Community High School, created the cover design of a woman removing bread from the oven in an old-fashioned kitchen. The cover is yellow, contrasting with the brown artwork and spiral binding. Mrs. Conrow says that the committee wanted the collection to be a "well-rounded cookbook, something a new bride would like." The variety of recipes included indeed make it well-rounded. Salads, hors d'oeuvres, soups, vegetables, meats, breads, casseroles, cakes, cookies, pies and other desserts are cookbook categories.

The dividers provide helpful information such as canning and baking tips, cooking abbreviations, roasting times for meats, cuts of meat and how to cook them, emergency substitutions, calorie counts and uses of herbs and spices. Mrs. Conrow is well-qualified to bead the cookbook committee. In 1977 her recipe for pumpkin face cookies earned her $25 and was the runner-up in a Better Homes and Gardens magazine contest. Her yeast roll recipe, listed below, was a blue-ribbon winner during her 4-H days.

The cookbooks are priced at $3.50 and may be ordered by calling Mrs. Conrow, 535-5891. Proceeds will be used for By TINA BARNES Jounal Lifestyle Editor Tri Kappa Sorority members in Whiteland are inviting everyone into their kitchen! The women in the Epsilon Rho Chapter are currently selling Volume 3 of a collection of members' favorite recipes, entitled "Kappa Kitchen Kollec-tion." Although the 300 books ordered are nearly gone, thanks to the dilligent sales effort of the members, cookbook committee chairman Ann Conrow promises another shipment will be ordered to meet demands. Work on the book began last August when members decided to publish one as a fund-raising project for the many community and charitable programs they sponsor. The preceding cookbook the group had compiled five years ago was almost entirely the work of the members, including typing, duplicating and printing, and was nearly a full-time job.

Members voted to make this venture a little easier by relying on the expertise and services of a professional printing company, North American Press of Kansas City, Inc. The company provided forms on which members were to write their recipes, assistance with advertisement sales and layout work. A company representative told Mrs. Conrow that the $2,000 in ad sales which the Tri Kappas sold was one of the most successful campaigns ever conducted. Mrs.

Conrow and her committee, Diana Downing, Betty Stillabower and Jean Williams collected and sorted the recipes into the appropriate categories. Both active and inactive members were allowed to submit a maximum of five recipes. A total of 225 recipes is included. The committee chairman saw a need for a special microwave recipes section, which Metzger honored Tri Kappa cookbook sound so tasty that committee chairman time deciding which one to try next.
