Choirs from a number of Grand Prairie churches both high schools and students from the choral department of Arlington Bap-' tist, College will be accompanied by the Mid- Cities Symphony Orchestra as they sing the cantata: "Praise for America, Patriotism for Amer- ica, and Prayer for America." The musical, written by John W. Peterson and Don Wyrtzen and including such national favorites as "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," will be directed by Earl Tom Keel, chairman of the musical activities committee of the Bicentennial Commission of Grand Prairie. "The inspirational content of this work will make every listener proud of his country and heritage. Admission of $1 for adults and for children will be charged at the door. The proceeds from this community production will hopefully enable the Bicentennial Commission to produce two musicals in 1976: an original musical telling the history of Grand Prairie and a July 4th presentation of the musical, "1776." Rights and music rental, alone for "1776" will cost over $600. Without the support of the community, the costs of producing these musicals may be prohibitive, Keel admitted. Baha'i sponsors conference Grand Prairie's Baha'i community will be one of 12 area Baha'i communities sponsoring "Women: Striking the Balance," a women's conference this weekend stressing the equality of men and women, at the Ramada Inn, 120 Airport Freeway, Irving. The conference will open 8 p.m.

tonight with keynote speaker Mrs. Winnie Davis, author of Fantastic Womanhood. She will sketch the changing role of women from historical times to the present. Helen Callaway, professor of microbiology at Central State University, Edmond, will be Saturday's featured speaker, discussing the role of women in the Baha'i Faith beginning at 9 a.m. She will be followed by Chris Miller of the Texas House of Representatives, speaking on "The Legal Status of Women Today," and Brandford Watson, past administrator of the (Baha'i) Louis Gregory Institute, South Carolina, speaking on the "Future Role of Wome'n." After lunch, Sharon Klempke, of the Tulsa "Oklahoma Eagle," and an advocate of women's rights, will discuss "Job Opportunities for Women." FROM 3-5 p.m., six short workshops will be conducted simultaneously: "Marriage: An Exchange of Ideas," "Child-rearing in an Atmosphere of Equality," Medium for Actualizing Potential," "An Introduction to Career Opportunities in the Community for Women," "The Role of Women in the Establishment of World Peace," and "Legal Concerns of Women." The conference will close Sunday with a musical program featuring an original score composed especially for the conference bY Mrs.

June Smith, a Baha'i from Denton. Slides and a report on the United Nations International Women's Conference held last June in Mexico City will be presented. "The purpose of the conference is to promote a view that brings women's roles into harmony with men's roles, but not to attempt to elevate the status of women at the expense of men," according to Lynn Van Blarcum of the steering committee. The 12 Baha'i communities in the metroplex sponsoring the conference include Dallas, Fort Worth, Irving, Euless, University Park, Garland, Richardson, Piano, Grand Prairie, Arlington, Mesquite and Denton. "We planned the conference to show the full support of the Baha'i community for the UN International Women's Year," said 1 Van Blarcum.

The pastor of Calvary Baptist for almost 30 years, Rev. Oldham was busy this week painting the new wing being added to house educational, day care and choral facilities.

He told the Daily News that he hopes to have his congregation using the new structure in another month, just as soon as he can get the workmen to finish the walls so that he can paint. Visiting officers enjoyed Students at the First Christian Church Day Care Center and Kindergarten have had two special visits lately from some very special friends: the Grand Prairie Police Department and the Grand Prairie Fire Department. Fireman Larry Dedman visited the school and demonstrated his fire truck for the young pupils. He gave them some tips on fire prevention and let each one sit in the firetruck. D.L. Rev. Thomas is a full-time evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene. Before entering the field of evangelism, Rev. Thomas was director of development at Mt. Vernon Nazarene College for four years.

He pastored at Albuquerque, N.M., First Church of the Nazarene. A pastor for many years, he is the author of the book Alaska: Allusion, based on his experiences while serving two terms as a home missionary in Fairbanks and Juneau, Alaska. J. MELTON THOMAS Charismatic revival revival in Shady Grove Revival services will be held 7:30 p.m. each evening Sunday through Friday at Trinity Baptist Church, 314 Skyline. Rev. Tom Heath, pastor, will preach the revival.

Since 1970, Trinity Baptist Church attendance has increased nearly four times. The mission outreach has increased 2,000 per cent in less than five years, according to the church. Groundwork is presently being laid to enlarge the auditorium to ac- comodate the larger congregation. A nursery will be provided each evening for persons attending the revival services, and the public is invited.
