Page 16 GRAND PRAIRIE DAILY NE I Friday, October 3, 1975 Warriors, Gophers travelling tonight Both the South Grand Prairie Warriors and Grand Prairie Gopher football teams will be on the road tonight for district games. The Gophers, 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in 7AAAA play, will travel to nearby Arlington for a 7:30 p.m. game with the Sam Houston Texans at Wilemon Stadium. Sam Houston will come into the contest fresh from a 9-7 edging of the Arlington Colts last week. The Texans, who are 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in district, lost to Dallas Kimball and Irving MacArthur in their first two starts.

The Warriors will take an unbeaten 4-0 record with them to Terrell for their 6AAA opener with the Terrell Tigers at 8 p.m. The Tigers and Warriors played a close game last year, 21-19, with SGP winning. Terrell will come into this season's game with a 2-2 mark after wins over Rockwall and Kaufman and losses to Pal- estine and West. The Tigers were shutout 28-0 in their last outing against West. Midget racers to run in Fort Worth meet GP IVY Read, a former state track finalist in the high jump and footballer for the South Grand Prairie Warriors, is challenging for a split end job with the Brown Univerity Bruins this season in the Ivy League.

The Great Southwest Quartermidget Club, consisting of many local members, will sponsor races Sunday in the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth as part of the North Texas Youth Fair. Quartermidget racers from neighboring states will compete in Barn 8 in races which will begin at 2 p.m. GP drivers will be among the entries in the races that will be designated the Texas Dirt Championships. The Yonth Fair will kickoff Saturday with a parade in downtown Fort Worth. Later, cars will be on display in one of many exhibit booths in the center.

In addition ot to the midgets, mini-cycle races are on tap Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and at 8 p.m. mo- torcyle racers will hit the track to compete for a $1,500 purse. Tickets to the fair are $1 and parking is free. Race tickets are $2 for the mini- cycles, $4 for the motorcycles and $2 for the quar- termidgets.

Deadline Oct. 20 Hunting permits due for state area Six Parks and Wildlife Dept. wildlife management areas will open their gates to hunters in November for white-tailed and mule deer hunting. Applications for permits hunt on one of the areas must be completed and be the Austin headquarters by 5 p.m. Oct.

20. A public drawing will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. :23 the John H. Reagan in Austin to select the hunters.

Areas open to hunting this year include: Gap Area in Brewster Nov. 29-Dec. 8, buck mule deer only, ISO permits to be issued. Diablo Area, Culbertson Nov.29-Dec. 4, sex to be.determined on day of hunt, 30 permits.

Area, Dimmit and LaSalle Co.s, Nov. 15-16, Nov. 29-30, Dec. 13-14, Dec. 27-28, either sex white- tailed deer, 180 permits.

Area, Anderson Nov. 15-18, Nov. 21 -24, Nov. 28-Dec. 1, Dec.

5 -8, either sex whitetails, 425 permits available. Howe Area, Hemphill Nov. 22-23, Nov. 29-30, Dec. 6-7, either sex whitetails, one turkey gobbler may be taken by each holder, 30 permits.

Area, Kerr Nov. 15-Dec. 1, 240 permits. Permits will be issued for an assigned two-day hunt with a bag of one deer. To be eligible for state- sponsored hunts applicants must be at least 12 years of age.

Those 17 and under must apply as a member of a party and be accompanied by someone 21 years of age or older who will be responsible for the minor's 16 area lakes to allow Jblind hunting this year -Hunters will be permitted to build blinds this year on 16 of the lakes in the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, for the regular goose and duck seasons, according to Col. Joe H. Sheard, District Engineer. No anchored or stationary blinds will be allowed for the special teal season.

Blinds will not be allowed at Canyon Lake because no waterfowl hunting will be allowed at that lake. Also, stationary or anchored blinds will not be allowed at Lavon Lake because the lake will begin catching runoff in September; but the rise in the water level will not prevent hunting Pro basketballers to play Dallas game from natural blinds or jump shooting ducks. Hunters should obtain maps of available hunting areas from the Reservoir Manager's office. for blind registration will be $50 which will be refunded when the blind has been satisfactorily removed. Applicants will be required to register their blind locations on a control map at the Project Office.

Registration for construction of blinds will begin no earlier than Oct. 1. Professional basketball has been missing from the metroplex since the Dallas Chaparrals moved a few years ago, but it will return Sunday when the former Chaps, now the San Antonio Spurs play the Atlanta Hawks at Loos Field in Dallas at 7:30 p.m. The Spurs are a menu of the American Basketb? 11 A.SSOC. and the Hawks pi iv in the National Basketball Assoc.

Tickets for the event are available at all Sears stores at $4 for adults and $3 for students. Sponsors of the game are the Dallas Jay- cees. The Loos Field House, is located on Spring Valley Rd. in north Dallas. KARRY B.

An adult may sponsor only one hunter under the age of 17. State laws forbid anyone from receiving permits to hunt on state lands for two consecutive years unless more permits are available than applicants. Those who received archery hunt permits to hunt during the Sept. 25 public archery drawing will not be eligible for the gun hunts unless more permits are available than applicants.

A $20 fee will be charged those selected in the Oct. 23 public drawing to help defray costs of conducting the hunts. Those whose names are drawn will be notified by mail of their hunt dates. Junior grid results Dalworth Dragons 36 Lamar Chiefs 0 The Dalworth Dragons won in a big way last weekend when they downed the Lamar Chiefs 36-0 in inter-city football play. Cornelius Jackson led the Dragon offense with 64 yards and 14 points and Wesley Wright added a couple more TDs.
