One of the major elements of the city's newest hotel-casino will be a 50-story replica of the Eiffel Tower. Completion is expected by 1 999. The resort will feature a 32-story X-shaped tower with 2,900 rooms. It will be built on 24 acres adjacent to Bally's Las Vegas.

The resort will recreate some of Paris' famous landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe, the Paris Opera House and rue de la Paix. Goldberg, president of gaming operations for Hilton, said the new-resort will appeal to the upper middle market. French-style sidewalk cafes will be located throughout the property, there will be 85,000 square feet of casino space, nine themed restaurants, 130,000 square feet of con vention space and a French-themed retail shopping complex. Paris is the latest in a number of themed resorts that have been built on the Strip, or are under construction. Among them are the pyramid-shaped Luxor, the medieval-themed Excalibur, New York-New York, which replicates the Big Apple skyline, the French Riviera-themed Monte Carlo, and Treasure Island, which features pirate battles nightly.

Other new resorts under construction include Bcllagio, an Italian-themed resort across from Paris, The Venetian, and Project Paradise, promising a South Seas odyssey. Plans for Paris were announced more than a year ago by Bally Entertainment Corporation. This Concert Is Dedicated To The 'Educators Of America Big London casino firm investing in Nevada By Brendan Riley ASSOCIATED PRESS A major London-based casino company filed applications Friday for Nevada approval of a $50 million investment in the Aladdin hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The applications were filed with the state Gaming Control Board by London Clubs International PLC, which has seven casinos in London plus resorts in Cairo, Beirut and Cannes.

If approved, the investment would be its first casino venture in the United States. Bill Galston, overseas regulatory and compliance consultant for London Clubs, said the Aladdin deal is the only one in Nevada the company is considering "at this moment." But Galston also said other investments in the state or elsewhere in the U.S. by the publicly owned company are always a possibility. The company also had been negotiating last year with New York city and state officials to operate a private club aboard a luxury yacht docked at Battery Park in Manhattan. London Clubs would hold a 25 percent interest in the Aladdin, hold a seat on the board of Aladdin Gaming and help create an upscale, European gambling salon at the Strip resort in a move to attract more high rollers.

The venture with London Clubs is part of Aladdin's current $750 million, two-year renovation and expansion project. Las Vegas-based Aladdin Gaming is controlled by the Sommer Family Trust, headed by Jack Sommer. Sommer has said expansion and redevelopment of the Aladdin, one of the older major hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, "will bring an entirely new dimension to Las Vegas gaming as we introduce a more European stvle and atmosphere to our property'" The Nevada application includes one by the parent London Clubs International LLC, another by an intermediary company called London Clubs International Holdings and a third by London Clubs International Nevada which will actually hold the 25 percent interest.
