Writing Center The Writing Center, another student support service, is where students may seek assistance with any writing assignment. If you do not know where to begin or how to format your paper, tutors are available to offer advice and assistance on getting started, organizing, developing, revising and proofreading your writing assignment.

Since writing assignments and research papers are required across the curriculum, tutors in the Writing Center are prepared to assist you with writing projects in any subject area. Sessions at the center, located in Room 207, Main Hall, are available on a walk-in basis. Check "Intercom to confirm the hours the center is open. Computer Labs The Main Hall computer lab is located in the East Wing. There is a variety of software available for you to access in your academic endeavors.

Additional lab facilities are located in Room 208 on the second floor, in the Library, and also in the Fine Arts building. All registered students are given computer accounts at the beginning of each semester. For problems regarding your account, please contact the lab assistant on duty or Greg Bloomfield, network specialist, at ext. 273. Books must be accompanied by a current cash register receipt and an adddrop or withdrawal slip.

Books must be in new condition. All books sold as a package, including books with tapes, CDs or software, cannot be opened. Full refunds cannot be issued if the books are damaged, covers bent, marked on or written in. Defective books will be replaced when accompanied by a current cash register receipt. Please note that those who purchased books with a credit card will be issued a charge credit, and those who purchased books with a check will be required to wait five days before receiving a cash refund.

Students unable to meet the return requirements may be charged a 10 percent restocking fee when returning books for a refund. See the Bookstore Manager if you have additional questions concerning refunds. Student Development Center The Student Development Center, located in the lower level of the Library, offers a variety of services to assist you in succeeding academically. Among these services are peer tutors, a study area, a Resoice Room and faculty learning specialists. In the Resource Room you may view alternative texts for a class and course syllabi.

The center also offers self-instructional materials that you may use to further develop your academic skills. Learning specialists can work with you on time management, test-taking skills, test anxiety and other study-related issues. The hours that peer tutors are available and the hours Faculty Offices, Hours, Voice Mail If you are having trouble in a class, with the text, completing assignments or grasping the material, see your professors as soon as possible to seek their assistance. There are several methods to contact the faculty: you may speak with them before or after class, see them during their posted office hours, or contact them by phone. You can simplify the process for yourself by reviewing the syllabus the instructors give you you will usually find their office hours, office location and phone number.

If you will not be in class and want to let the faculty members know, you will need to speak with them personally or leave a voice mail message on their office phone. Services for Students with Disabilities The buildings and grounds at Kent Stark are accessible to students with disabilities. Parking for students with disabilities is available in the lot directly behind Main Hall, in the lot in front of Fine Arts, and located in front of the Library in the flagpole circle. Accommodations are made to meet the needs of our students with both physical and learning disabilities, including a TDD phone connection accessible through the campus phone number.
