Thursday, December 1, 1977 Akron Beacon Journal A3 10 LA women believed strangled by same suspect Los Angeles Times Service LOS ANGELES Investigators now believe at least 10 of 13 women and girls strangled in recent weeks were killed by the same suspect or suspects, the head of a special task force investigating the murders says. "Similarities tend to make us believe there is a connection between these murders," Los Angeles Police Lt. Edwin Henderson said Wednesday. Henderson said the task force of detectives would be increased from 29 to 40 men today and that police psychologist Martin Reiser was preparing a "psychological profile" of the killer or killers. INVESTIGATORS identified the 10 victims they believe have been murdered by the same killer or killers as: Yolanda Washington, 20, last seen Oct. 17 in Hollywood, found nude and strangled Oct. 18 near Griffith Park in Los Angeles. Judith Ann Miller, 15, last seen Oct. 31 in Hollywood, found nude and strangled Oct. 31 in suburban La Crescenta. Kathleen Robinson, 17, last seen Nov. 16 in adjacent Santa Monica, found nude and strangled Nov. 17 in the Wilshire district of Los Angeles. Kristina Weckler, 20, last seen Nov. 19 in Glendale, found nude and strangled Nov. 20 in Highland Park in Los Angeles. Jane King, 28, last seen Nov. 9 in Hollywood, found nude and strangled Nov. 23 near Griffith Park. Lauren Wagner, 18, last seen Nov. 28 in Sepulveda, found nude and strangled Nov. 29 in the Mt. Washington area. POLICE, meanwhile said three other murders which they had thought were connected to the series appeared not to have been the work of the same suspects. These victims were identified as: Laura Collins, 26, found Sept. 9 near Griffith Park. Theresa Berry, 19, found Nov. 4 in suburban Walnut. Margaret Madrid, 7, found Nov. 6 in the nearby City of Industry. MEANWHILE, investigators revealed that hypnosis had been used to come up with a composite drawing of a possible suspect in the strangulations. Under hypnosis, two witnesses described a man they had seen sitting in a car belonging to Miss Kastin. The suspect is shown as a Latin or dark-skinned Anglo with a moustache, acne scars, receding hairline and a mole on his left cheek. He was described as about 27, 6-foot-2 and weighing about 160 pounds. The indication that there may be more than one suspect arose Tuesday while detectives were investigating the latest murder that of Miss Wagner, whose body was discovered early Tuesday. Neighbors reportedly told police they had seen Miss Wagner, accompanied by two persons, leave her car a few doors from her home and enter another vehicle about 10 p.m. Monday night. INVESTIGATORS Wednesday said her murder bore similarities to those of the other victims, but declined to specify what those similarities were. MM,' ...
