He stopped on King street, oppssite the City Hall yard, and left his horse attached to the wagon standing for a few minutes in the etreet. When he returned the horse was down. partly in the gutter and partly on the pavement, and was suffering tery much, the symptoms being those of colic. The horse was given a dose of salaratus and his throat and limbs were rubbed with spirits of turpentine.

A crowd soon collected around the fallen animal and with the assistance of several men he regained bis feet and was taken over Third street bridge.
