Construction is to begin this month and be completed by June 1992. The general contractor for the project is Hummel of Mantua.

The building will be on campus, at the northeast corner of Loop Road and Summit Street. Nine months ago, WKSU aban doned its longtime plan to purchase the building it now leases on East Main Street in Kent and to consolidate its operations there. Since then, the price tag for the new structure has grown by $500,000. The money is coming from WKSU fund drives but completion of the project is guaranteed by the university. The station has already raised Jl million through a capital campaign.

For 18 years, WKSU has operated out of two locations, causing a logistical headache for employees. While another performer might have been satisfied with any sort of career given the barriers she faced, Williams has enough drive and ambition for three defrocked beauty queens.
