Your daily guide Shed by ABC, Brian Benben to star in a show for CBS After being dumped by ABC after making a pilot the network didn't like, Dream On star Brian Benben has found work over at CBS. The actor, who created a name for himself in the HBO series one of the first on television to combine intelligence, wit and adult material has signed an agreement to star in a show for CBS, probably a comedy, that will be designed to suit his dry style. Benben is said to be quite high on the CBS deal, hoping to have some input to come up with a premise that will appeal to a broadcast television audience. Former 'Doogie Howser' star enjoys playing grungy character in 'Rent' He's no longer portraying a doctor, thank you, but Neil Patrick Harris is doing fine and well as one of the stars of the LA production of the Tony Award-winning play Rent. Harris has shorn off most of his curly hair for the play and what's left has been bleached blond, but that hasn't diminished the energy or excitement he feels for the role.

It might not bring him the notoriety or attention that he received as star of Doogie Howser, M.D., he acknowledges, but he says it is one of the most professionally satisfying roles he has ever had. Harris, 24, plays a grungy inhabitant of New York City's East Village. It's a stretch, says the New Mexico native, but also quite a challenge. '3rd Rock opener has Roseanne as visitor Roseanne, already considered an alien by some of her critics, will actually play one on the hour-long season premiere of NBC's 3rd Rode From the Sun Sept 24. The show stars former Akron resident John Lithgow and Jane Curtin.

And that's not the, uh, end of it. But for all that, South Park is a show that reaches out to adults with the sensibility of a child. It's a detailed recreation of those golden years when you learned to swear, threw around grown-up words you did not understand and blew up frogs with firecrackers. Or wished you could. South Park follows four third-grade boys Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman as they go about life in South Park, a small Colorado town.

Comedy Central is calling the show "an adult-oriented, twisted Peanuts," but that's reaching too high. Peanuts, after all, has tried to impart life lessons while the main lesson to be drawn from South Park is that there are some twisted, funny guys living in Colorado.
