Rlrs. Violet Lewis Dies at Age 25 Mrs. Violet Lorrine Lewis, 25, wife of Lloyd Lewis ot 2302 Neal, died at her residence at 5:05 p. m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Lewis had been 111 four years and bedfast three years. She was born April 22, 1921, at ThobeSi the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Powell.

She moved to Alton as a young girl. Besides her husband and parents she Is survived by two sons, Lloyd LeRoy end Thomas John; four sisters, Mrs. Leona Romo, Mrs. Mary Huntsman, Mrs. Agnes Huntsman and Mrs.

Charles Dietz, -who was called here by the death ot his father, will return to Cairo Friday. years, was reared in Godfrey township, later making his home, after marriage, in Alton. With his wife, Mrs. Lucy Long P.ocklington, also a former resident of Alton community, and a niece of Hall, he had driven to California In June for a vacation during which they visited their son, Lt, Frank Pocklington at Ocean Park. For the last three years, Pocklington had been in tailing health, due to a Heart condition, and It had been hoped the stay on the west coast would be of benefit to him.

Recently he suffered a heart attack which made It Inadvisable for him to attempt the return drive to Peoria by automobile, and he had been recuperating In expectation of returning with his "wife by train. Meantime, his son, Lt Pocklington, was separated from naval service about two weeks ago, and had just returned with his family to Peoria by automobile to take a position as an assistant high school principal. Besides his wife and son, Frank, he Is survived by anoher son, Robert, of Peoria, and two grandchildren. Laura Ann Spencer, 05, died Wednesday at 3 p. at tiro home of her daughter, Mrs. 3. L. Cottrell of 214 East St.

Louis avenue, East Alton, after an illness ot aVout two years. was born July 4, 1851, at Greenville, a the late John and Mallnda Perry. She moved to Staunton with her parents as a child and resided there until she married Frank Knight of Staunton, 77 years ago. Mr. Knight died 60 years ago, and 55 years ago she was married to John Spencer, a farmer in the Bethalto area.

Mr. Spencer died 36 years ago after which Mrs. cer moved from the farm' to Bethalto where she continued to reside until her health failed and she came to East Alton to be cared for by her daughter. Last September at the Bethalto homecoming Mrs. Spencer was presented with an orchid as the oldest resident and woman attending.

She had taken care of her hom'e at Bethalto until her health failed. Fifty-five years ago' she united with Bethalto Methodist and was active up until two yeaifs ago. Mrs. Spencer was the mother or six children of whom three arc living. They are: Mrs.

Cotirell, with whom she made her home, and two sons, C. R. Knight of San Bernardino, and B. M. Knight St.

Louis. She Is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Marks-Weber funeral home in Wood River at 2 p. m. Friday by the Rev.

LeRoy Dude of Bunker Hill, former pastor of Bethaltp Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Bethalto' cemetery. The body Is at the funeral home where friends my call this evening. Mrs. K.
