City sued over Court Street project requirements By Steve Timko GAZETTE-JOURNAL The financiers of a luxury condominium development overlooking the Truckee River filed a lawsuit against the city of Reno over requirements to bring the building up to code. The development is called 525 Court Street and was originally conceived as an $11 million development with 20 homes ranging from $236,000 to $820,000.

Whitehead has been handling the Bollinger case, in which the defendant is accused of murdering an elderly Sparks couple whose burning bodies were found last year at a Colorado rest stop.

Holmes and Whitehead have been feuding since last year. Holmes argued that Whitehead mishandled the criminal trial against a Reno police officer accused of brutalizing a suspect he was taking into custody. The officer was acquitted. Holmes took her case to the Nevada Supreme Court to have it validate her contention that Whitehead exceeded his authority in the case. Whitehead responded, Holmes said to the pension funds that financed it.

The lawsuit claims the city of Reno is making requirements now to bring the building up to standard that were not made when Keller and Gazin were developing the project. These changes are corrections to parts of the development already constructed. The requirements include three-hour fire resistant walls between the parking garage ceilings and the floors of the homes; new exits; elevator lobbies; guardrails; and ventilation in the atrium.
