Police investigate drug lab Detectives are investigating a methamphetamine lab discovered in a West Fourth Street motel room Monday night, the Washoe County's Consolidated Narcotics Unit said Tuesday.

The lab was producing 1 5 to 20 gallons of methamphetamine substance, yielding approximately $250,000 worth of "crank," according to the CNU. The unit reported it found laboratory equipment (glass devices), chemicals and breathing devices used in methamphetamine production, as well as a small amount of marijuana. No other details were released. Boost for hospital housing plan A private campaign to build a Reno home that would provide lodging for VA hospital patients' spouses and relatives will get a boost in Reno today from U.S. Sen.

Richard Bryan. Bryan, a former Army Reservist, will meet with the Veterans Hospital Foundation which hopes to raise up to 1 million over the next 1 8 months to provide a spouse house modeled on the Ronald McDonald House. Under current plans, the spouse house would be located near the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center in Reno and would provide about a dozen rooms for visitors who cannot afford hotel accommodations. Reno fire victim remains in Las Vegas burn center A north Reno man seriously burned in a fire Monday night remained in critical condition Tuesday in the burn unit at the University of Nevada Medical Center in Las Vegas. Manuel Martinez had second- and third-degree burns over 80 percent of his body following a fire in his Satchel Alley home near the University or Nevada, Reno. Investigators say Martinez may have fallen asleep while smoking. Office building fire probed Investigators were trying to determine the cause of a fire in a vacant suite in an office building at the corner of Stead boulevard and Silver Lake Road Tuesday night.

A Reno Fire Department spokesperson said the 9:30 p.m. blaze caused only moderate damage. Missing girl at nearby house While 1 5 Reno police officers and two aircraft searched northwest Reno for a missing 5-year-old girl Tuesday she was in a neighbor's house, police said. "She was attracted by a dog into the house," Lt. George Maskaly said.

He said the neighbors were not home and he did not know how she got in. The unidentified girl, described as having a learning disability, disappeared on Glen Aulin Way. Although it was early afternoon, police feared she might succumb to freezing temperatures if she were not found before sunset. Rose Ski Resort. The program begins Jan. 23 and runs for four weeks, weather and snow conditions permitting. Youth in grades 6 through 1 2 can learn or improve their skiing or snowboarding with lessons by certified instructors at the resort. The cost of $98 per person includes lessons, lift tickets and transportation for the session.

She never stopped learning David Jonathan Lee White Tree surgeon HAWTHORNE A graveside funeral for David Jonathan Lee White, 27, who died Nov. 6, 1992, at Mount Grant Hospital, was held Tuesday at the Hawthorne Cemetery. A native of Susan ville, Calif, he was born Aug. 12, 1965, and had lived in Hawthorne for the past 25 years, coming from Susanville.

White was a tree surgeon and a member of the Fellowship of Believers. Surviving are his widow, Angela son, James daughter, Amanda parents, James A. and Shirley R. White, sisters, Heather White and Dana Tomilla, all of Hawthorne; and grandparents, Bob and Beth Chambers of Montana. Arrangements were under the direction of Hawthorne Funeral Home.

9, 1 992, at Washoe Medical Center, Reno, will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Lovelock Funeral Home. A native of Modesto, she was born Jan. 11, 1 907, and had been a resident of Lovelock since 1982, coming from Fallon. Mrs.

Vierra was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Her husband, William died in March 1 989, and a son, Arthur, died Nov. 4, 1990. Surviving are a daughter, Ida May Mori of Lovelock; six grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at Lone Mountain Cemetery, Lovelock. degree from Utah State University in 1 968 and earned a D.D.S. from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1972. He received a master's degree in pediatric dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1976 and was on the faculty until August. He received the Annual Service Award in 1 984 by the Association of Retarded Citizens of Dallas.

He served on the Clinical Advisory Board and was dental services coordinator for the Nelson-Tebedo Clinic for AIDS Research. Surviving are a brother, Carl Hylin of Reno; and a niece. No funeral is scheduled. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 1 a.m. Thursday at the Metropolitan Community Church, Dallas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hughes Jefferson Chapel. William Charles Meister Former bail bondsman TRUCKEE, Calif. William Charles Meister, 64, died Nov. 9, 1992, at Tahoe Forest Hospital. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, he was born Dec.

1 9, 1 927, and had been a resident of Truckee for the past 38 years, coming from Iowa. Meister was the manager of the Pasttime Club and bail bondsman, retiring six years ago. He served in the Navy during World War II. Surviving are daughters, Gayla Borden and Lana Richards, both of Truckee, daughter, Lisa Petzoldt of Clyde, and Gena Meister of her intense intellectual life housed in a failing body. What she scheduled from noon and until the 7 p.m.

vigil service today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Cemetery and Mausoleum. A native of Hartford, she was born Nov. 28, 191 5, and had been a resident of Carson City for the past 1 5 years, coming from Torrance, Calif. Mrs. Deeb was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters. Her husband, Edward Michael, died July 16, 1989. Surviving are a son, Edward of Southern Pines, N.C.; daughters, Carol Anne Rohr of Kansas and Kathlene Jenny Hubbard of Rancho Palos Verdes, several brothers and one sister (locations unknown); 1 1 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 1 a.m.

Thursday at the church, with burial at Lone Mountain Cemetery. David Baker Gardner Salesperson CARSON CITY David Baker Gardner, 67, died Nov. 10, 1992, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. A native of High River, Alberta, Canada, he was born Feb. 26, 1 925, and had lived in Carson City for the past seven years, coming from Sacramento, Calif.

Gardner was a mobile home salesman. Surviving are his widow, Jessie Moore of Reno; sons, Gene Groves of Kansas City, and Rick Groves of Mound House, daughters, Nancy Groves of Montana and Cindy Groves of High River; daughter, Linda Groves, and sister, Grace Gardner, both of Sacramento; 1 1 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A native of Monterey, he was born April 15, 1914, and had lived in Battle Mountain and Elko areas since 1 965, coming from Arizona. Bilbrey worked as a diesel mechanic for various mining and construction companies, retiring in 1 984.

He was educated in West Virginia and served in the Army. Surviving are daughters Debbie Smith of Sparks and Sue Pellini of Battle Mountain; daughter Judy Lancing and sons Bruce, Paul, and Connie, all of Phoenix, son David of Boise, Idaho; sisters Ruth David of Dayton, Ohio, Veenie Dishman of West Virginia, and Debbie Mede of Tennessee; 1 6 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral Friday at the Battle Mountain Methodist Church, with burial at Battle Mountain Cemetery.
