RAMADA HOSTS BLACKJACK TOURNEY: On Oct. 21 and 22, the Reno Ramada hosts its annual Autumn Blackjack Tournament. As with the Ramada's other seasonal tournaments, this event will offer a first prize of more than $6,000, based on 75 participants. There will also be prizes for second, third and fourth place. The entry fee of $150 entitles participants to a special room rate Friday and Saturday nights in the Ramada's hotel tower.

The tournament will include first and second elimination rounds with $300 buy-ins and $300 table limits. Semi-final and final rounds will feature $500 buy-ins and $500 table limits. The tournament is structured as a double elimination tournament with a $100 re-entry fee for the second elimination. All entry and re-entry fees will be returned as prizes, and the Ramada will award other prizes to individual winners. 5145. SENIOR RODEO FINALS: The National Senior Pro Rodeo Finals ride into the Reno Livestock Events Center Nov. 16-20. Mark your calendar now to see some of the best cowboys in the world compete for cash and other prizes in five action-packed performances. Senior Rodeo professionals age 40 and over will compete in bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling and more.

To reach the finals, participating cowboys have won the highest number of event points during 60 qualifying rodeos held in the United States and Canada. Sponsored by the National Old Timers Rodeo Association, the eight rodeo categories include two women's events barrel racing and ribbon roping. Well-known competitors in the men's divisions are the Camarillos, Benny Reynolds, Ronnie Rosen, Dennis Reiners, Don McLaughlin, and Jack Roddy. Many cowboys in the Seniors division also continue to compete in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association events. Tickets are $5 for all evening performances Wednesday through Saturday and $7 for the Sunday matinee.

The Peppermill is offering free classes in wine tasting and food preparation, all in the casual atmosphere of Le Moulin. Le Moulin's sommelier (wine steward), Alain Gre-goire, will conduct the first seminar from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Gregoire will discuss basic methods of wine making and the grape growing regions of California.

This program features cooking techniques for easy-to-prepare desserts using common ingredient. Alain Gregoire will return to discuss the wines of Burgundy during the third seminar Saturday, Nov.

5, from 2 to 4 p.m. This discussion is onFrench wines. Gregoire, who was born and raised in Deauville, France, is the man with the answers. Frank Kuhn chef de cuisine Le Moulin, and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will conduct the fourth seminar on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Kuhn's program focuses on basic techniques for creating sauces and concludes with an entire meal being prepared using the sauces. CAESARS HOSTS SLOTBUSTERS TOURNAMENT: Caesars Tahoe is headquarters for great slot action. Ella and Mattie Johnson of Turlock, know that first-hand, as winners of the recent Slotbusters Tournament.

For their first-place finish, they took home $15,000. Second place and $7,500 went to Jack and Laverne Louter. The next Slotbusters Tournament is scheduled from Oct. 9-12 and offers $75,000 in prizes. FITZGERALDS DEALS HIGH HANDS: Four lucky players took home a total of $1,094 in progressive jackpots won on Fizgeralds Casino-Hotel's "High Hand of the Week" nickel video draw poker machines located on the second floor.

Arthur Frank Harford of Sparks won $255 with a straight. Verna Smith of Longley, British Columbia, won $286 with a straight. Mildred Weber of Vancouver, won $265 with a flush. Eileen Milbeck of Reno hit a straight, winning $288. The "High Hand of the Week" pays a progressive jackpot on a bank of nickel video poker machines each Friday to the players with the highest hand in spades during the previous week.
