(Just skip the knives!) wherever you look. -How has this program changed your idea of music? Who decides what is music and what isn't? out New York, Stomp Out Loud opens with six cast members mak-' ing music with hubcaps, road signs, car parts and cans on a rooftop billboard with the Manhattan skyline in the distance. In one segment, "Basketballs," an alley game obstructs traffic, causing drivers to honk their horns melodiously. The noise sends a chef retreating to his kitchen, where pots, pans and knives create a delicious din.

In the mellow segment "Cards," several cast members use a deck of playing cards to make music of shuffling and dealing. This rebroadcast of the HBO special featuring the cast of the international percussion sensation Stomp airs Sunday, Aug. 22, on HBO. This is a breathless, high-energy celebration of the everyday.

The cast starred in the short lilm Brooms, which received a 1996 Oscar nomination, and performed that year at the Academy Awards.
