4C Reno Gazette-Journal Friday, November 18, 1988 Casino executives admit shredding records Snowpack The lack of moisture in the soil has meant the ground is not completely frozen. That means much of the snow runoff could be lost to soil, instead of reaching depleted reservoirs. Bob Thompson, Nevada-area manager for the weather service, said a weakening Pacific storm is expected to hit western Nevada Sunday. Another larger storm front could come by late Thanksgiving weekend, he said. The Wednesday storm dropped as much as 14 inches of snow at higher elevations.

Capurro said. "Of course, the big months are December and January." In a normal winter season, at least 50 percent of the Carson Range and Sierra Nevada snow- Eack is in place by the end of lecember. By February 65 percent of the snowpack is on the mountains. Accumulations that boost the water supply usually end by April 1, he said. One factor hampering the 1989 runoff is the mountains' extremely dry soil conditions, Capurro said.

The suit claims the hotel failed to provide adequate protection to guests. Minden lawyer Joseph Cronin alleged that Imperial Palace owner Ralph Engelstad and hotel general manager Ed Crispell directed executives to destroy security documents backing up the claims of the Missouri couple. The alleged destruction of documents is expected to be an area covered in a Gaming Control Board investigation of the resort and Engelstad Also under investigation is a Nazi memorabilia room Engelstad had in the hotel and parties he held marking the birth date of Adolf Hitler. The depositions introduced in court were from Shirley Albury, the hotel's director of human resources; Maria Chassey, personnel director; and Ed Stef-fen, chief of uniformed security. From page 1C show that the last time the lake fell below its natural rim in 1977, it took five years of near-normal to above-normal winter snowpacks to fill the lake's 744,600 acre-feet of reservoir space.

That's enough water to match the needs of Reno and Sparks for more than 10 years. "We have started the water accumulation period fairly well," LAS VEGAS (AP) Imperial Palace executives say they purged hotel security records last spring and shredded a stack of documents two feet high that could have hurt the resort in a civil suit. Depositions filed in district court in Las Vegas say the executives were prepared to "commit perjury" if they were called as witnesses in the case and questioned about the documents. The depositions were from three Imperial Palace executives who have been on administrative leave from their jobs with pay since September. The depositions were filed by the attorney for a Missouri couple who are suing the hotel for negligent security protection.

The two were attacked in their 17th-floor room in December of 1984. Dr. Greg "Lightning" Williams 702-826-0506 TlieTastestWytoSell!
