The suit alleges state and local governments have paid unreasonably high prices for fixtures because of collusion among the eight manufacturers. LOS ANGELES ffl - Actress Cheryl Miller jf television's "Daktari" series has married stockbroker Stan Shapiro. Miss Miller, 24, met Shapiro, 28, several months ago on a blind date. It .was the first marriage for each. Shapiro is th stepson of Los Angeles County Supervisor Ernest E. Debs. Miss Miller had been engaged to Lt. Charles Hutter III of Beverly Hills, Cal., a physicist stationed with the Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo. m Miss Miller ESSA Delayed Again VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Cal. Wl - High winds in the upper atmosphere again delayed launching of the eighth ESSA weather satellite Saturday. A Space Agency spokesman said the launching, originally set for Thursday, would be attempted today if weather conditions improve. The space craft is designed to photograph the Earth's cloud cover from a 900-mile-high polar orbit. This is the official inaugural medal for President-elect Richard M. Nixon, created by sculptor Ralph J. Menconi. The obverse side shows a three-quarter view of Nixon, differing ' from profiles used on past commemorative. Reverse side is the Great Seal of the I'niled ' States, from the crewelwork embroidered by Julie. Nixon for her father. Bronze copies of the medal are 2i inches in diameter. tT). Record Chicago Budget CHICAGO W A record $759-million budget, providing substantial pay increases for virtually all the city's 43,000 employes, has been approved by the City Council. Included are pay raises for first class policemen and firemen from $9,000 a year to $10,500 on Jan. 1 and to $11,000 next July 1. The police and fire raises account for the largest share of new spending under the budget which is almost $34.5 million larger than last year. The increase will mean a property tax rate increase estimated at 44 cents per $100 assessed valuation for a new total of $6.83 for each $100. Soher Dinner Thought CHICAGO If) - The Anti-Cruelty Society appealed Saturday for anyone willing to adopt a piglet found abandoned in a near North Side bar. The animal, a black and white Hampshire, was found tied lo a bar stool. The bartender thought it a joke and kept the pig, waiting for the owner. Finally he turned the animal over to police, who kept it for four days and than they turned it over to the Anti-Cruelty Society. ! CIA Director Helms Wed Beacon Journal-Washington Post ' SOUTH ORANGE, N. J. - CIA director Richard Helms was married Saturday to Cynthia McKelvie of Washington at the home of Helms' brother, Gates M., here. Only members of the two families were present. Mrs. McKelvie was divorced earlier this year from a Washington surgeon, Dr. Allan McKelvie. She is the mother of four. Helms was divorced last September. See Dockworkers' Strike NEW ORLEANS UP) A spokesman for a group of International Longshoremen's Association officials from Gulf ports said Saturday it appears there will be -a dockworkers' strike this week. Alfred F, Chittenden, president of Local 1418 and a spokesman for the group, said: "We probably will go out, the way lt looks now." His comment came as some 50 ILA officials met to make final plans to resume the strike that was stopped Sept. 30 by a Federal court injunction. An 80-day waiting period expires at midnight Saturday.
