During tbe montb of August, one hundred and seventy-six persons visited the Free Reading Room--some to spend an hour or more in reading, others seeking a quiet place where they might write, and still otbera in search o( references pertaining to some subject in which they were interested. Ibey all found wbat they were seeking, and went away well satisfied.

One gentleman wbo travels continually remarked tbat "It was very gratifying to a stranget to find a quiet place where one oould write or Bpeud a few leisure moments in reading. Of those visiting tbe reading room to read or take books borne a goodly number are children from 12 to 16 years of age.
