Daytime dial ABC's daytime folk move around Lots of changes at ABC daytime. For nearly 20 years, from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s, CBS was the No. 1 network, but some 10 years ago it lost its ratings crown to ABC. When Michael Brockman moved to CBS in 1982, that network began its climb back to the top.

This month Brockman goes to the alphabet network as president of daytime, children's and late-night programming, a new division within ABC. Jo Ann Emmerich, who has served as vice president in charge of daytime, will keep that position when Brockman takes over as president. Brockman is a real pro when it comes to knowing who fits best in what area and who to let go, and he has helped CBS build a stable of fine writers, from Douglas Marland to Pam Long. Brockman has encouraged topical and tough storylines and has not flinched when it came to dealing with such topics as AIDS and homosexuality. There's no word yet on who will replace Brockman at CBS, but it will not be Laurance Caso, who has been VP of daytime and is now executive producer of "As the World Turns." Gloria Monty, the Emmy-winning former executive producer of "General Hospital," has signed on as a consultant on ABC's "All My Children." Although no change has been announced regarding her appointment, Brockman's arrival at ABC and this week's axing of Stephen Schenkel as executive producer of "All My Children" indicates that anything can still happen.

Schenkel wrote a letter to AMC's cast and crew, thanking them for all their work. He is being replaced by Felicia Minei Behr, who, as an associate producer for 10 years of the now defunct "Ryan's Hope" when it was No. 1 in the ratings week after week, is no stranger to "All My Children." Behr knows the show's history, its important family feel and what kinds of stories will ring true to longtime AMC fans. Gene Pulumbo, former head writer of the syndicated "Rituals," has been named head writer on "General Hospital." Pulumbo has served as associate writer for several daytime shows, including GH. He replaces Pat Falken Smith.
