Head KENT Dr. George Henry Moulds, 58, chairman of the Kent State University philosophy department and author of the book "Thinking died Wednesday in Cleveland Clinic Hospital. Mr. Moulds, of 340 Miller was a faculty member at Kent State for 25 years and had headed the philosophy department since "Thinking Straighter," first published in 1965, might better have been titled "'How Not to be Deceived." It dealt with fallacies in advertising and political campaigns.

Mr. Moulds referred to fallacies as "the most dangerous type of crooked thinking." Such fallacies, he wrote in the book, ranged from wrongful use of emotional terms and vagueness to slogan and bargain appeal. Born in Buck Creek, Iowa, he attended Iowa State Teachers College and received Richard Selman, Truck Driver NORTH CANTON Richard E. Selman, 55, of 4666 Mayfair died Wednesday in Akron City Hospital. He had been a truck driver with Bolin Oil Co.

for 22 years. Born in Akron, Mr. Selman was a an Army veteran of World War Mr. Selman II. He leaves his wife, Effie; sons, Richard E.

Petersburg, Mrs. Imogene Moss, Ak- Sylvia Jean Christman COPLEY Sylvia Jean Christman, 76, of 2389 Hull resident of Copley for three weeks, died Wednesday in St. Thomas Hospital. Born in Polk, she had lived in Barberton 12 years before moving to Copley. Mrs.

Christman leaves daughters, Mrs. Rosamond Jolly, Harris, Akron, Barberton, Mrs. and Lavonne Beverly Kleinhanzl, Copley; son Henry, Akron; brothers Kenneth and Duane Grove, both of Franklin, sisters Mrs. Marjorie Wilcox, Bradford, Mrs. Jessie Davis, Port Arthur, and Mrs.

Leona Rice, Sacramento, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the CampfieldHickman funeral home in Barberton where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and until services Saturday. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Akron.

Inez L. Gray, Ill 5 Months Inez L. Gray, 74, of 2090 Sixteenth st. SW died today in Akron City Hospital after a five-month illness. Born in Pleasantville, she had lived in Akron since 1961.

Mrs. Gray was a member of the Harpster Av. Church of Christ. She leaves sons Thomas and James both of Manchester; sister Mrs. Elizabeth Arnold, Ecorse, six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Services and burial will be Sunday in Centerville, Tenn. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the Prentice Kenmore chapel. Bertha Gurley Rites Saturday Services for Bertha Mae Gurley, 55, St. Thomas Hospital employe, will be at 1 p. m.

Saturday at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Mrs. Gurley, of 184 W. Tallmadge died Tuesday at City Hospital. Born in Brookhaven, she was employed in the St.

Thomas housekeeping department 14 years. She leaves her husband, Robert; daughter, Mrs. Ruby Ezekiel, Chicago; brothers, Joe Willie Keys and Jimmy Keys, Oakland, and Richard Keys, Brookhaven, and sister, Mrs. Lottie Jefferies, East St. Louis, Ill.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Turner Funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Peace Cemetery. Manley Purdue Services for Manley Purdue, 68, of 1080 Seventh are being arranged by the Stewart Calhoun Black funeral home. Mr.

Purdue died Tuesday at General Medical Center. I 2 Brumbaugh, Ex-Polsky's Carpet Man CUYAHOGA FALLS Samuel Brumbaugh, 69, retired retail carpet sales manager at Polsky's, died Wednesday at St. Thomas Hospital after a one-year illness. He retired in 1969 after 24 years with Polsky's. Mr.

John Jennings, 66, prolific historical novelist and travel writer, in Long Island, N. Y. Among his books were "Salem Frigate," "Sea Eagles," "Pepper Tree," and "Tattered Ensign." He received a Bronze Star for services with the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II. Mr. Moulds was an avic organic gardener and his wife said his dream for retirement included an arboretum near New Philadelphia which already was started.
