STATION volunteers, working in advance of the auction, solicit merchants, organizations and individuals for-the merchandise donations. The 1971 auction brought in on the sale of 2,400 items. WVIZ general manager Betty Cope reports that at least one-third of the items sold last year were donated after the week-long auction telecasts had begun. Perhaps the most provocative donation received this year, to date, is a Cleveland bank's gift of two days' interest on $1 million. There are 'some stipulations on donations. New items (except for art and antiques) must have a minimum retail value of $25. A resident program for retarded boys has been added to run concurrently with the five regular boys' camping sessions. The first session will begin June 18 with retarded boys 8 years old and up accepted. Camp Christopher will con-T'tinue to offer two weekly sessions of day camping for re-tarded boys and girls. 'ZZ Regular resident sessions are for boys and girls 8-16. The cost is $39. Girls' resident camp begins a five-week run July 23. The CYO trip camp dates are July 2-12 for girls and July 30-Aug. 12 for boys.

Both trips will visit the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan as well as spots in Canada. Cost of the trip camps is $175. A day camp for boys and girls ages 5-9 will begin June 19.
