Connie Criswell of, Garland. Pianist Leonid Hambro entertains Woman's Club CORNBREAD STUFFING By MARTHA GRAVES Women's Editor Pianist, entertainer, humorist and teacher Leonid Hambro entertained members of the Woman's'Club who met for the general membership and guest day Friday morning at the Women's Building. Hambro first mentioned the differences in Southern and Northern accents made the southern pronunciations of swear words almost graceful and delicate. He played several concert selections which he said he did not plan in advance. "I believe in talking and playing by inspiration.

Since I'm inspired by the Christmas mood and atmosphere here today, I will select a few Christmas pieces," Hambro said. In the selections he played, his fingers moved gracefully yet powerfully across the keys, and he seemed to put his whole being into his music. Hambro appeared with many Chamber Music groups such as the Juiliard String Quartet, the Philadelphia Chamber Ensemble and the New York Woodwind Ensemble. He once teamed with Victor Borge to perform on television specials and appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, Mitch Millers' Show, Kraft Music Hall and the Hollywood Palace. As he played the piano, he stopped for pantomimes, caricatures and anecdotes.

He was official pianist for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for 14 years, staff pianist and weekly recitalist for New York's Classical radio station WQXR, and a member of the faculty of Juiliard School of Music for eight years. After the program, a luncheon followed at Los Colinas Country Club in Irving to honor Hambro. During the business meeting of the club, yearbooks and yearbook supplements were passed out.
