The unique style and artsy class of the Central West End presents the perfect setting for an old fashioned, yet high style, family- friendly holiday weekend of festive shopping and dining. Festive activities include FREE trolley rides up and down Euclid, exclusive giveaways, events, holiday sales and special shows at participating businesses, caroling, a kickoff gallery walk, delicious WinterFest features at many local restaurants, gift basket drawings and pretzel roasting to mention a few. National new Central West End branch, 230 N.

Euclid, will serve as WinterFest headquarters with goody-bag distribution, exciting drawings, live Radio Remote with Guy Phillips and complementary food and beverages. Throughout the weekend, a CWE Best of the CWE WinterFest contest will be held at participating businesses and features a $1,000 for Golden Mug Prize generously donated by the CWE and Scott Hepper, manager. Contestants will be asked to stop into participating businesses for a special WinterFest stamp and upon completion of 12 stamps, per contest rules, they will be entered to win a number of exciting prizes, including the grand prize $1,000 Dinner for 12. Entry cards may be found at WinterFest headquarters (National City), Antiques, Bar Louie, African Insights, CWE Library, Coffee Cartel, CWE Association and Bowood Farms. FOX 2 news will draw the winning ticket LIVE on their morning show Monday, Dec.

4 in the 8 a.m. hour. The weekend will kickoff tomorrow evening, Dec. 1, with the Gallery Walk at local Central West End art galleries from p.m. On Saturday, Dec.

2 there will be trolley rides from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., caroling and craft hour for 4 and 5-year-olds at Branch Library from 11 a.m.-noon (call 314-367-4120 to register), the Paper Petals event at Bowood Farms from noon-2 p.m., WinterFest Storytelling at Left Bank Books for children over 4 (parents please stay in the store with children 12 and under) with Shane Signorino from p.m., gift basket giveaways and festive treats at Antiques, featured WinterFest items at participating restaurants throughout the day, holiday caroling, pretzel roasting, cookies and hot chocolate and huge sales and events at many local businesses. Sunday, Dec. 3 will feature many of the same activities throughout the day, including free trolley rides from noon-5 p.m., along with a grand event presented by Koplar Properties at the Maryland Plaza fountain from 5-7 p.m. Guests will enjoy the sights and sounds of a fountain-lighting ceremony, the 150-man choral group Ambassadors of Harmony, Santa and reindeer visits, hot cider and much more.
